Glasgow 3* star Hotels

My partner and me stayed at this hotel for one night for a concert. When he was booking it online, he accidently booked the wrong night. He called to change this and the receptionist did so straight away with no extra charge. When we arrived the receptionist was friendly and genuinely interested in our stay. She placed us on 9th floor - I think this was for peace and quiet. The room was big and spotless. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower was a power one with plenty of hot water! I have lived for 2 years in Glasgow and this was a trip to visit some of the old places I have been to,decided to stay in this Hotel.Everything was as expected,room good size and clean nothing fancy.Location was 2 seconds from SECC as I knew it would be and close to city centre if you know your way round.As someone who has worked in hotel industry and specially in the front of the house,receptionists were lacking abit of enthusiasm in interacting with guests,don't get me wrong,they weren't rude - Adrian

Me and 7 other friends had a weekend away and after reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried about having already booked into here. I should not have however ! The rooms were clean and tidy and bathroom was spotless. The buffet breakfast was wonderful and had a really good variety of stuff even my vegetarian friend had no complaints and found things she liked. There was fresh HOT coffee which was a novelty as some places I have stayed have served lukewarm. The 24 hour reception was a go - Ling

The location of this hotel is excellent, with many local attractions in walking distance. The hotel is well run, clean and the staff very helpful. - David

We stayed at the Express over a Saturday night and we were more than satisfied with the room,the service and the location...don't know what other reviewers thought they where going to get at a budget city centre hotel?...but you get what you pay for....and this hotel IS value for money.I must also point out the excellent courtesy and service from the two gentlemen on reception upon checkout (13/09/09) they were helpful and a little unusual for receptionists...they are genuinely interested in the - David

Visited the hotel in August with friends. Hotel location is excellent for shopping on Buchanan Street- a couple of minutes walk away. Also about 5 minutes walk to the merchant city area for pubs, restuarants and clubs. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendy. The receptionist gave us great advice on where to eat and drink. The bedrooms were compact but well equipt, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was of a good quality and served till 12 on a sunday. - Dorota

Stayed over for one night in the hotel - had read the comments from some others and was a bit worried - all I can say is they are talking rubbish - the reception was very helpful and very clean our room was lovely and clean and bright - no problem with the bathroom - if anything the heating was too warm - lovely fresh linen and towels - plenty tea/coffee making facilities in the room - the breakfast room and staff lovely - breakfast was brilliant too - for the money we paid absolutely excellent - Dennis

This hotel is very central so easy to get to from railway and bus stations with a huge shopping centre right opposite and easy walking to major attractions, shops etc. I booked over the Internet and got a single room price of £40 incl breakfast which I would say was really good value for money. The room was a twin and I'd asked for one on the back having read other reviews about noise. There was a little noise Fri night but only to be expected in the location - just take some ear plugs if you ar - Alan

very clean hotel and reception staff was very nice. our room was spotless, bed was the most comfortable i slept in. our room was at the front and was very noisey as traffic outside got busy from about 6.30am - Bastien

We've been to Glasgow before, but this was our first stay at Jurys Inn and we'll definitely use it again. As the sleep deprived parents of an 8mth old who has been teething for the last several weeks on our first weekend off since the little guy was born to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary we were looking to enjoy some peace and quiet and plenty of sleep :-) To ensure a good room location I contacted the general manager, Paul Bray, via e-mail beforehand and he promptly responded that all wo - Michael

The location suited the purpose of our visit. Unfortunately Rangers were at home to Celtic so hotel was very noisy right through to 4 in the morning. Our fault, we knew this happens but had to visit Glasgow on this weekend. This was once a nice, clean, attractive 4 star hotel. I believe it is now a 3 star. Rooms are shoddy with dirty carpets, torn soiled wallpaper and beds past the end of their life. Public areas are not too bad. Food is very good, I love the breakfasts. Staff do not deserve - Richard
