The efficiency and friendliness of the staff, especially in the dining room. With a Premier Inn you know just what to expect, comfortable beds, cleanliness and welcome, at a reasonable price. The three children like the flexibility of the children's meal options and the breakfasts are very good. We could walk to the Royal Mile inside ten minutes, and the railway station in 25 mins (with bags), although we did use a taxi on arrival, for ease and comfort, and this cost just less than £6.00. all reviews » the hotel is basic but new....we had the disable room, and the bed was fantastic!l chose this hotel because of no frills but new and fresh.....great for visiting the city on foot, and lots of pub/ restaurant open till late, when we came back at evenings after Sightseeing....the breakfast was good for £8.50, with lots of choices. Numerous buses into city centre from Tollcross. Liked the notice on doors reminding guests to be quieter so as not to disturb other guests. Well done. Hi, we were very happy with the Hotel, it was just walking distance to the mains attraction. When we come back to Eding. we will book in Premier. John the Night Manager helped us with things that needed to be fixed or were missing. John is a very dedicated employee who makes staying a joy. Everything was clean and well presented. Not a dislike but as a suggestion, it would be helpful if staff asked guests if they were familiar with Edinburgh and/or also display a map beside the door showing the bus routes. There was no fridge in our room! It's rather strange!. Our room was not made up once during 3 night stay. The rooms were fairly basic but good for the money paid. The folding bed for our daughter was pretty tough, for kid so so, wouldn´t recommend for an adult. So I´d call it just double room with extra bed instead of family room. Kleenex, shampoo, a safety box and a fridge in the room would be nice additions. The day we arrived there were 2 hand towels, after that they always left only one and once none at all. Room 116 was a little noisy early morning - was behind some bins and the back entrance to somewhere else and you can hear people shouting etc. Free wi-fi for only 30 minutes a day. Having to pay for WIFI. It was a bit on the expensive side, and breakfast was extra. Four of us in one hotel room was a little crowded but for the amount of time we spent in the room it wasn't an issue for us. We would do it again for this sort of holiday. The cleaning was ok but the dust was not removed properly.. non in the headboards of the bed or in the desk, the shower gel got finnished during the second day and we didn´t get replacement..we stayed 3 nights.. Hair in the bath plughole on my arrival. Nothing. The traffic noise. lack of free WiFi beyond 30 minutes. The queen size bed was two singles bolted together creating a hard ridge down the middle of the bed. It's not the hotel's fault for being located in the world's worst city for parking but parking is a pain, especially if you have to unload a lot of suitcases. Wi-fi is not free... Although you do get first 1/2 hour for free. N/A. Loud music from the kitchen when dining. Especially at breakfast. Room was too warm. Fan did not work. Main lights did not work. Outside noise started at about 6am. Very loud. Room was a little on the warm side and with the window open there was a lot of street noise even on the third floor. I would have liked shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. The one breakfast I had left a bit to be desired. Just too busy. My plate of hot food cooling, whilst I queued for toast making and then coffee getting. 6th May No BBC radio on TV after 5pm and missed "The Archers"!!. Nothing comes to mind!. The Naked old man banging on the neighbouring room at 6am on a Sunday morning. I expected for the price of a family room (£152 for two nights) to come with a double and separate single bed, rather than a single camp bed crammed against the wall and dbl bed. Although the other beds were comfy, the extra bed in our "family" room had broken springs - ouch!. The bar in the Hotel closed early. No residents bar. A short walk from Grassmarket when you know the way but by bus/taxi you have to take a longer route due to the one way system. Had a few problems with our room 425, the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. The socket nearest to the windows was cracked and did not work, the automatic kettle didn't switch off it just kept boiling. All of these things should be checked at least weekly and they could not all have just broken. Not sure if understaffed because ourselves and some other guests had to wait after 2pm.for our rooms to be available. Also we booked a table for dinner at 8pm. only to be told that it would be later because they had a party of 18 people booked in. seeing there were lots of empty tables in the dining room and there were only a few other diners, it appeared they must have been understaffed in the kitchen. However the staff were very pleasent and helpful during this time. Road noise throughout the night. Nothing. There was no phone to call the reception. Noisy at night on front of hotel. very few electronic sockets. also it would be the best if we could have air condition in the room. Snotty english voice in the lift! It's minor but it should be scottish!!!!.
