I upgraded to a four poster room for a minimum additional charge. The room was warm, comfortable and scrupulously clean. Staff (owner and family) very friendly and helpful. I arrived before the closure of the restaraunt so had an excellent chinese meal. The breakfast was also well prepared and there was a choice. Good idea to ask for breakfast item selection the evening before. The owner is really fantastic with little ones. He took our 4 month old and turned his mood around (he was getting bored and grumpy..) so he was happy and entertained during our evening meal – meaning we were actually able to eat our dinner.. The locals in the pub were very friendly also. Lovely food, clean rooms, and charming decor. Highly recommended all round!.
all reviews » Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room (Annex) was spacious and quiet even though the Plough Inn is on a main road. The chinese food was excellent some of the best I have ever tasted. Breakfast was really nice lovely bacon and eggs done as wanted all very fresh ingredients used. We stayed in Room 5 which was very nice. 4 poster bed, clean, everything worked (although it would have been useful to be told how to get the hairdryer to work) everything we needed. The owners were very friendly and attentive without being over the top. Very good breakfast. very friendly welcome spacious room,everything worked, comfy bed, and nice sitting area, where we could enjoy A drink before going out. having previously booked dinner elsewhere, we wished we had stayed at the plough to eat. we shall return. Owners very friendly and obliging. Very comfortable bed lovely clean sheets etc and lovely white towels in en suite. Excellent breakfast cooked beautifully not greasy at all and very hot and fresh.would definitely stay there again. Lovely location in the small village. Very friendly proprietors. The restaurant serves chinese food which is delicious. Amazing hosts, friendly and helpful. They even gave us a lift to the train station and to the Science centre. Thank you!! The setting is lovely. A bit difficult to identify the entrance to reception on arrival. perhaps a notice might help?. We would like to have been able to eat there - but the owners explained what had happened regarding the restaurant. this lovely couple are in the middle of bringing about some good changes so things around the bar were A little disorganised, but A minor issue. Pub. Could do with some t lc in parts. Nothing!. As the room is near to a main road there is some traffic noise. We stayed in room 4 nice room but water stained cieling (lick of paint needed) and the four poster bed was very firm (we like medium). Nothing!. Leaving....... The shower head needs replacing. Nothing , previous posts had prepared us for quirkiness of the building. Breakfast was very good but far too much. Better sausages with breakfast would have been good. More choice at breakfast would have been nice. Think we may off had the last room No.6 could be a problem for some guest its up one flight of stairs soon as you open the door small steps down to bedroom . The Inn was primarily a Chinese takeaway - not too romantic!. Hand-held shower-head only in the bath - but the low ceilings probably wouldn't allow anything else!. Its a shame they don't do food in the evening but there is a good pub which did do food a 5 min walk. No evening meals. Nearest place to eat is a 10 minute walk down a very dark and scary road. No restaurant. On arrival, The Plough didn't look like it was open - not very welcoming. The inside of the main building feels like it could do with some new décor. Could not the shower to work not much water coming out. Room was too hot. Our room was clean and comfortable but a bit tired, needs up-dating. Shower rose needs sorting out, good flow though Lack of people, no atmosphere in the bar Chinese food predominately. Poor and tired decor throughout, dated and worn bedroom furniture, lack of thorough cleaning (dado rail and windo sills in dining room), neglected grounds with 2 old and very dirty caravans in there one of which was being used by someone. No bath. Restaurant is now Chinese which was a bit of a surprise, although the food was very good. No opening window in the room. Sliding glass door on bathroom difficult to move. Gardens around pub untidy and not well maintained. Various outbuildings with tools lying around give an uncared for look. Carpet rather tired especially the entrance stairs. The grounds could be more attractive. Flys in bath old half bottle of wine left from previous clients hot tap on sink did not work at all we did report this but nothing was done.
