And nothing more.Everythng was OK - nothing stands out except the excellent car parking facility. The sauna and the jacuzzi and the fact that the staff was so friendly.Situated in a fine wooded area just over Clifton suspension bridge, the hotel had a quiet atmosphere despite being busy during our stay. The room was clean, and was well furnished and presented. the rooms are large and with large windows overlooking the grounds, making it very hard to leave.The use of the country club facilities were very useful and the meal wasgood value for money. Quiet location close to city. Good food in brassier restaurant reasonably priced.The grounds especially the little pond outside our room. Comfortable bed, lots of hot water, nice fluffy towels!. room and meals. Room was dated bathroom needed upgrading as bit worn but most if hotel could do with a few improvements, just generally looking tired all over. . The hot water supply was a little slow and sometimes only just hot enough.Too warm in the room and no temperature control. Breakfast was way over-priced at £15.95 for a fry up. The main hall and the communal areas are a little worn but the room was nice. Also, the corridors are a little too cold.Bar staff took larger tips than expected.. The lounge area was just functional with no real atmosphere. Not somewhere guests would want to relax.There was a Wedding Reception on our date and regretably the music wenton until 1.00 am which kept us awake. The photo on website suggested an older building. The reception staff were so slow with all the paperwork and it took forever to check in and out. No glasses in bathroom. Food was 'supermarket value brands' so not particularly appealing. Staff seemed a bit disgruntled and a bit down-beat. The hotel was very hot and could benefit from air conditioning.Room service was terrible, we ordered for Sun morning 7.30 am as we would be leaving hotel for the day at approx. By 7.50 am nothing had arrived so we phoned Reception to cancel. As we were going out of room door we met the lady coming down the corridor with the breakfast. She did not know it had been cancelled. Not good service here, maybe it may be time to buy a clock!. The rooms though comfortable are looking rather sorry for themselves and in need of a bit of TLC. Dinner was expensive with limited choice. key to room failing to work twice which resulted in a long walk back to reception, once when meals went cold due to this. breakfast price too high. Our rooms were a very long walk away from reception being nearer to Cardiff than Bristol. Reception was very efficient but not friendly. The breakfast seemed a bit pricey at £15.95.Did not supply face cloths or shower caps and sofa was made up into a spare bed. We asked one of the hotel staff to turn it back into a sofa which they did. Worn and discoloured corridor carpets. Very slow service in the bar, restaurant and checking out in the morning. One member of our group had to return their meal in the evening. I had no success in reaching reception by phone to report that the centre light and the safe weren't working in my room. I was on the 1st floor, on a sunny day, and my room, even with the window open, was intolerable - perhaps you could supply fans? My daughter stayed at the hotel at the same time, and was woken by an unwelcome alarm call at 6am - the same happened to 3 other rooms in our party.The carpet in the room was not cleaned, as well as mud on bathroom floor. The room was not ready until 3pm, despite 2pm checkin. The pool/leisure complex was closed on the Saturday night, but the closure sign did not explain the reason nor the length of time. There were not towels in the pool area, so bring one from your room. House keeping came rund to clean the room at 12:30pm when we were getting ready for thewedding we attended. When we returned back to the room after the wedding someone had been in the room and tidied up some towels in the bathroom, but nothing else had been touched, the bed was still unmade which wasn't a problem, but none of the glasses or cups had been replaced. And there was no normal tea !!!!. The room was very hot with no air conditioning, fan or method of coolig down. Soup was not hot enough. Shower did not work.Room cleaner arrived at 7.35am to clean the room and entered the room and did not immediately leave after being told that it was not convenient to clean the room - we were still in bed!. Bar food in the L.Club was tastless and badly presented.Bath was veryslippery and no hand rail.Remote control did not work in the room. Not replaced or repaired depite 3 attempts. Breakfast very expensive at £15.95 per person. The bar was not open at 5pm. I was told to come back in 10-15 minutes. Distance from dining room for 84 year old companion!!. shower not working in one room, telephone not working in another. swimming pool very grubby. The doors in the corridors bang too mush they need soft closures. think i should have been made aware that the restaurant was closed on the sunday evening. Room looking tatty and bath dirty. Dirty net curtains and peeling window sill. Bathroom was dated and dusty, shower was old. Inadequate lighting- Lampshade was broken. Television was erratic.The bar staff are rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. shower difficult to use, no bath plug. Had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to come to show how to work shower, or bring a plug. When someone arrived they were unable to help. Very unhelpful reception -just fob you off.
