This is one of the most relaxing hotels one can stay in with glorious gardens surrounding a wonderful country style accommodation. Phillip Fleming the General Manager has a great team working with him and he made us feel so very welcome and pampered the whole stay. The Restaurant meal in the evening was just exceptional. We wish we could have stayed longer. What a find! The Tor-Na-Coille is indeed a wonderful place to stay. The staff were friendly and attentive; our rooms were beautifully furnished with everything you could need to hand. Breakfast was excellent. 5* for the price of 3* - probably the best hotel on our trip. Would wholeheartedly recommend!.
all reviews » The friendliness and helpfulness of staff, nothing was a bother to them. The design and spaciousness of the room. The Roman blinds throughout, tasteful rich decor. Gardens were lovely too. Enjoyed best fish and hand cut chips ever. The open fire was very inviting. Lovely Hotel, great room and fantastic price. Food very good and Staff, especially in the restaurant were very good. I was working in Aberdeen and hotels were at a premium and overpriced. As weather was so cold inside lovely and warm with gorgeous log fire crackling away in lounge. Throughout hotel very comfortably warm. Would highly recommend. the hotel was very good, the staff excellent and very friendly and the location is good as it is a genuine 5 minute walk into the town and when your at the hotel you feel that your miles from anywhere due to the quiet and serene location. Food to die for at reasonable costs , dinner was out of this world ! Excellent location outside Aberdeen but not far from the INdustrial estates for Business purposes, I will be using this regular from now on for Aberdeen Business. Everything! We liked this hotel very much just a shame we did not have too much time to spend in it as we were up in Banchory for a family wedding so only time spent in it was to sleep and having breakfast. The only issue we had was the breakfast on the saturday morning we had full english both mornings but the saturday morning did not feel it was value for money was only 1 sausage 1 slice bacon fried bread was very greasy, there was no butteries on this morning either, did not get asked if everything was ok was just put in front of us and that was it. shame!!!. The only complaint would be that the hotel in general was overheated. The whole hotel was overheated. The cook ought to be given a proper cookery book. I ordered a Queen of Puddings and it was like nothing I have ever had. Perhaps reference to a cook book would show that this pudding is quite different to what was offered. Breakfast a disaster - French toast was very fatty fried breadand burnt bacon - should have sent it back. Food should have been better for a hotel of this class. Cannot fault!. Not at all clear upon arrival where/what parking was for guests, and how to get to Reception. Food was very good but would have liked more choice,. Nothing I didn't like. The pillows are awful you bounced off them very difficult to sleep on please could you have feather pillows or softer ones. The decor was a bit odd? The iPod dock in the restaurant was off putting, especially if you were seated by it like we were. No night porter. No room booked at hotel when we arrived. recently decorated bedroom and had a smell of paint which should soon wear off. Breakfast not available early enough (other than via room service). Poorly trained staff, lack of attention to detail, rather expensive for the service and quality offered. Did not provide the finishing touches we would normally expect from a superior quality hotel. Very young staff who will hopefully provide more attentive service as they mature. Lack of a lounge area to relax in other than waiting for dinner. I would challenge the "acres of parkland". There was a very nice sitting room which we were unable to use as a wedding was being held on that day. There was nowhere else for us to relax apart from our bedroom. This was not what we expected at this hotel and feel we shoud have been notified that this would be the case. When I checked out and saw it cost £7.10 for a glass of wine and soda!!. Room rate a bit high. Booked a jnr - all upright seats in room - no comfy ones after a long drive. Said lt looks into garden - it looked into the garbage bins - could see very small gaden indirectly. Did not cater at all for trad food - had to go into the town. Bar service was non existant . For the wedding part at lunch time on the friday 1st. And a very poor selection of beer with the 1 real ale on tap off since tuesday because it hadn't been delivered. Sorry but not good enough at £75 a night.stayed at the nearby british legion club the previous night at half the price and it was much better .
