Perfectly situated on the border of the North Yorkshire Moors, the Moors Inn is a Grade II Listed building in the centre of Appleton-le-Moors village. It offers home-cooked food, real ales, and log fires, as well as free on-site parking. There is also free Wi-Fi in available in the reception area. Rooms are located both above the main pub building, overlooking the village street and in converted barns found to the rear of the property. All have an en suite bathroom and a TV. Many rooms have charming period features, including beamed ceilings. An extensive menu with traditional home cooked British dishes is available daily, made with seasonal local ingredients. Hand-pulled local ales, a selection of wines, and a range of whiskeys can also be enjoyed. Located just off the A170, Moors Inn is just a short drive from Scarborough and Whitby. The historic city of York can be reached in less than an hour by car.

The room was as described, clean and tidy. The staff were great and very welcoming. We only stayed one night before moving further North but I would have been more than happy to have stayed longer should my trip of needed it. We actually ate at The Moors Inn at night and the food was excellent, as was breakfast the following morning. I cannot recommend highly enough. Staff very nice and friendly, english breakfast was lovely. Bedroom had everything we needed and bed very comfortable. Drive up to the Inn saw a tawny owl, badger, rabbits and sheep all over the place. Ten minutes away in Pickering had the best Indian Cuisine I have ever tasted.
all reviews » This is a charming moorland hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Chef is their greatest asset, the meals were outstanding and most enjoyable at a reasonable price - overall excellent. I am a pensioner (79) on my own they all made me most welcome. Nice quiet location. All staff were very friendly & courteous at all times. All of the inn was very clean and the food was as good as a top class restaurant. Bed was very comfortable. Certainly will book again when at York visiting. Easy to Find, location chosen for visiting flamingoland, which was around 10miles away, approx. 30mins drive. Rooms were clean and well presented. Beautiful quiet village. Gardens attached were lovely. Food was of a very high standard. Was looking for a quiet getaway in the countryside. You know, traditional pub, great local beers, log fire, great food, no cars, warm atmosphere....this is exactly what the Moors Inn is all about. Try the Game Pie...its the real deal. Excellent, quiet, away from the world, just the place to relax. The staff were were friendly and helpful, the food was very good home cooked food, we couldn't fault it. If you haven't been there, go now, you won't regret it. I booked this as a present for my husband for Valentines. My booking form actually stated Valentines and we should have had a free bottle of wine, also the shower didn't work. I questioned this with the owner, he even asked me what wine I prefered. When back after a lovely day out at Eden Camp, shower was fixed but still no bottle of wine. Unsure when meal serving times were, I was told but not written down, arrived to late to be served, but found the Indian - good result.. There was NOTHING about this hotel that needs adverse comment. My stay was great. There was nothing I didn't like. Could not fault it. Perhaps the bed was a little too soft for us, but really this is only a matter of personal preference and not really a criticism. Could have done with a fan in the room as got a little stuffy at night. A woman of a certain age so probably didn't help and the day had been quite warm otherwise was fab. Nothing!. No complaints. not applicable. low water pressure made the beautiful shower nearly impossible to use, a toilet flush elsewhere in the building caused the shower to go cold. only fault was the shower very low water presure but didnt spoil weakend. Nothing. there was nothing to dislike. I felt the service in the resturant in the evening was poor, it took over 30 mins from ordering food to actually recive it. The breakfast menu is somewhat limited,in days of healthy living scambled egg could be offererd, not just poached. my only complaint was the water pressure in our room. If I had to complain it would be to one minor repair to towel rail. Not a major problem but someone else might find it important. There was nothing we disliked. Could not find any complaints. Sometimes the food was very slow to arrive. n/a. Some of the cleaning left a bit to be desired - it wasn't dirty just a few dusty mirrors etc. The mattress had seen better days, as had parts of decor. Wifi doesn't reach all rooms but access available from reception. bedroom too hot; would have benefited from a fan. Absolutely nothing to dislike - we had a very pleasant stay. No wifi, but considering location not surprising. The heating didn't stay on long enough.
