Family-run for 4 generations, Kräuterhotel Edelweiss is located at 1,550 metres above sea level on the car-free Rigi Mountain, next to Rigi Staffelhöhe Train Station. It offers panoramic views over the Swiss Alps and Lake Lucerne, free WiFi, 2 restaurants, and a spa area. Spa facilities at Hotel Edelweiss Rigi include a sauna, steam bath, and a Kneipp pool. Colour and light therapies are available at an additional cost. The Panorama Restaurant has a sun terrace with mountain views and offers traditional Swiss cuisine and regional specialities, all made from Swiss products. In the Regina Montium restaurant, which was newly opened in December 2016, guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine based on traditional recipes, exclusively made from Swiss products. The traditionally furnished rooms provide a balcony, a desk, and a bathroom with a hairdryer. In winter, snow shoes and sledges can be rented on site, and a ski slope is right outside the hotel. The Rigi Kaltbad Spa Centre can be reached in a 15-minute walk.

Our lounge, which is more than 100 years old, invites you to linger and enjoy the wonderful panorama view. The kitchen team serves a varied cuisine, from classically elegant and Italian to traditionally Swiss, but always fresh, creative and healthy, with a clear respect to the traditions of the region.

Lunch menu from 11:30 to 18:00, dinner menu from 18:00 to 22:00.

Weather permitting, meals are also served on the sun terrace between 11:30 and 18:00.

Hotel information details

The hotel features a wellness centre with Finnish sauna, Turkish steam bath, jacuzzi, Kneipp facilities and various baths and massages. In addition, the hotel offers 5 fully equipped seminar rooms for 2 to 50 persons, each with a magnificent mountain view. The hotel is also ideally suited for private events of every kind.

Important information to guests

Please note that the hotel is located on a car-free mountain and can only be reached by public transport. The Staffelhöhe Train Station of the Rigi Railway, which starts at Vitznau, is right next to the hotel. It can also be reached by cable car from Weggis (with a change at Rigi Kaltbad), followed by a 15-minute walk. Parking is available at the valley stations of the railway line and the cable car. Please note that the Panorama Restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Since the 18th century, the Rigi massif has been a popular destination for daytrips and holidays thanks to its unique location on Lake Lucerne.

The 17 modern "Alpenblick" rooms in the new wing of the hotel are mostly south-facing and feature a balcony. The 8 gently renovated "Edelweiss" rooms are located in the main building of the hotel, which is over 100 years old. They are simply, but charmingly furnished and radiate a touch of nostalgia.

Travelling information

The most comfortable way to reach us is with the Vitznau Rigi Railway via the Vitznau valley station, or by cable car via Weggis (change at Rigi Kaltbad).

The Hotel Edelweiss is located directly at the Rigi Staffelhöhe train station, at 1,550 metres above sea level. Parking spaces can be found directly at the valley stations of Vitznau, Weggis and Arth Goldau.
