2nd time that we've stayed at the Golf Hotel Rene Capt and again everything was excellent, from the breakfast, hotel room and front desk service, absolutely fantastic!!. Staff were lovely, hotel was in a beautiful location, we had the experience of two different rooms and they were both superb.The setting was spectacular! We were upgraded, so our room had a balcaony that looked out over Lake Geneva.

Well-positioned for the Chateau de Chillon, the funicular railway from Territet, the casino and the beautiful quais - all on the Number 1 bus route, which you can use for free with the hotel´s complimentary Visitor Card. Escalators from the main station run down to the Escaliers de la Gare bus-stop, then get off at Bon-Port stop. The views from the lake where incredible, the room was big and comfortable. The area is very quiet and if you like you can swim in the lake. The breakfast was delicious, full of fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, etc, plenty of things to choose.Hotel staff was very nice. The view from the hotel lake view rooms was really good.We had asked for a nice room for my parents as it was a treat for them and they were allocated a very good room with lovely flowers and fruit. Location is excellent, as well as the preservation status overall. The views over the lake are amazing.It was a hotel like 13 in a dozen. Don't see any advantage in comparaison to other 4 star hotels. The view at the lake was nice (we were upgraded from cityside to lakeside, without extra charges). Rooms are nicely decorated. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Book a lake view room if you want to enjoy the beautiful views over Lake Geneva.It had a great balcony, and the staff was very willing to serve us dinner there with a sunset. I feel that a hotel of that category should offer it free of charge to all their customers.there was not. The TV remote control did not work. In-room food was quite expensive (CHF 22 for a small appetizer salad)and not very good. -absence of mini bar in the room.Lake-facing rooms with balconies cost more but are worth it. Back rooms look onto rail tracks. The car park facilities, they have just a few carpark places so if you need one do ask in advance to the hotel.Rooms not on the lakeside of the hotel are very close to the train tracks... a fact of life for a lot of Montreux, but may disturb NA guests. It could be better if the hotel can provide kettle for the guest to boil their own hot water.WiFi signal too weak for internet connection from my room (I was in a far corner). No snacks/minibar. Not central. No access from lake at night (discovered after stumbling around in the dark). A swimming pool would probably be desirable in the heat of the summer but the lack of one certainly did not spoil our break. The room could have been a bit cozier. Too large. Anyway, the status was excellent. Personnel at receptiondesk was polite, but didn't ask if the room was okay, how we enjoyed our stay, etc. I would have liked a minibar. Like other people wrote, the train is passing at short distance. We could feel and hear it (even lakeside), but at home we live next to the railway as well, so it didn't bother us. Without the reduction from booking.com the room is a little overprized.Some of the rooms are in the old part of the hotel, and this has not been decorated externally to the same high standard as the other rooms. Everything is shut in Montreux on Sunday, so no chance for extra shopping on a weekend break. They could look at putting a mini bar into each room.My single room was just behind reception and very noisy (right next to a prep kitchen for the bar) and staff started setting up very early in the morning - banging the door right next to my room. I was up early due to jet lag - but would be a problem for normal travellors. Although my room was on the lake side, the train is heard and sometimes woke me up in early morning.The rooms are not provided with air conditioners whish are required in the summer during the day. The bathrooms do not have an exhaust system. The prices for mineral water were exhorbitant. The cd for the music in the restaurant was clearly on 'repeat'. This isquite annoying.The free in-room WiFi worked poorly if at all. Insullation between rooms and floors was poor...no Airconditioning. no minibar, no garage.
