Thaprobane Beach House was the highlight of our trip and the best place we've stayed in Sri Lanka. We were incredibly well looked-after and would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers. The staff were fantastic - very helpful and friendly. Thaprobane Beach House is situated right on the beach and in a perfect location for swimming, relaxing, and exploring Unawatuna. all reviews » We immediately felt at home there. All of the staff were very friendly, especially Nuwani who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. The location was perfect and the hotel itself had the most fantastic atmosphere. It was a home from home. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Plus honest, when we checked out they realised they had overcharged us 2000 rps and we hadn't noticed but they alerted us to this and repaid us. Rooms were spacious and had a great balcony. The staffs are very friendly. I was travelling alone but thanks to them, I didn't feel isolated at all. The location is great. Just in front of the gusethouse, there is the beautiful beach. The location was literally on the beach and my daughter loved walking to the beach for a swim. The restaurant food was quite good. The staff were quite helpful and pleasant. The most wonderful beach house on a gorgeous beach! Great food and friendly staff. Proximity to beach and location withing unawatuna is convenient. Location. There was nothing I didn't like. Myself and my friends had the time of our lives. My friend had an issue with electricity the last night where it wasn't working so she couldn't have ac which in the heat isn't great. Food was ok, nothing amazing. We ate there twice but preferred to go elsewhere. Wi-Fi should be able to used in the rooms. The condition of the rooms were not too great for the money paid. it is very noisy until the restaurant downstairs is closed about 11pm. Room 1 was on the ground floor and lacked privacy. A lovely room but See through blinds. Not black out. Standard room 14 was better. Nothing. Tourists should be warned if considering going on a boat trip to what is called Cinnamon Island.This is simply a scam/rip off.You will end up with about 5% of the amount of cinnamon you pay for. Room was on the back side of the hotel so I will pay a little extra next time for a room in the front looking out on the beach. Cant think of any. As a Westerner you are regarded as a walking ATM- machine so be aware. No wifi in the rooms. The toilet setup not very friend and without shower gel and shampoo and no hook to hand clothing and lighting too dim. Nothing. a bit far from train/bus station. Waves come up to rusted steps so no real beach, walk down the road Breakfast overpriced Room above restaurant inconvenient and noisy with staff watching TV. The woman at the reception chewed gum with a wide open mouth every time she spoke with you. Very poor manners. The men were helpful, but the hotel need to wash their orange sarongs daily. They work so hard in the heat that they get very dirty.
