  Amaya Lake Dambulla gets 5 stars from me. We booked the standard chalets and were upgraded to Luxury Rooms without even requesting. They accomodated our request for an early check in at 6am, 7hrs before check in time. Also do not miss the spa, I only got the Lower Limb massage and it was soo goo - We had a very relaxing two days stay at the facility. There was some initial confusion where the hotel mistakenly put us up in a lower category room than what we had booked but this was quickly resolved when we highlighted later and were given an upgrade to the luxury suite. Overall good service levels although I would expect more consistency and speed as it sometime appeared a bit lackluster. Good choices in their restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Spa could improve their infrastructure but

  Fantastic location. Hard to get there though as it is about 10km from Dambulla. The food was best we have had in Sri Lanka so far. The infinity pool is beautiful as it looks out to the lake. The room was very comfortable. Ambience is devine. It makes a great base to see the surrounding district. Once there it was phenomenal. We were greeted by Monica the elephant and given an upgrade. Thank you fr that. The location and view fr the restaurant on 6th floor are the things that set this property apart. A definate must fr anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

  The hotel was in very close proximity to the rock so you could walk to the rock to climb and to the museum,the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Having the pool was excellent for just relaxing with some down time. We hired some bikes and road around the local country lanes.   Stylish comfortable rooms for the price which are more like apartments. (The natural light in the bathroom is an excellent idea in this kind of environment.) The hotel was 4 months old when we stayed so everything clean and new. Location is great for nature and excursions. Sigiriya rock is approx 1000 rp tuk tuk ride away. Great for bird watching ... what people say » - you can see peacocks from your balcony. Excellent large swimming pool. Breakfast and dinner buffet are not 5* but good enough to keep most happy wit - Nice cabanas, lovely bathroom, everything worked as it should have, pity we only got to stay for a very short time and didnt have a chace to enjoy the pool or the spa, both looked amazing. The food was also great and the staff very helpful without organizing a safari within 30 minutes of our arrival.
