  Good Hotels in Sri Lanka are not cheap and it is worth what you pay when compared to cheaper Hotels. Mount Lavinia was superb in all aspects. It takes about 80 minutes from the airport and I would advise anyone against driving themselves. Always hire a car with a driver, otherwise you will come back a nervous wreck! It was rather nice - Mt Lavinia is an experience. The hotel rooms in the old section are a little tied, and wow what could they do if they spent a bit money! (I stayed in a delux room). That aside. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had everything you needed, and the view was wow! The service at the hotel is excellent the areas around the pool and at the beach are fabulous, especially at dusk with the sun setting and the candles being lit. Totally worth a visit.
