  Javier who was the point of contact and person in charge at Pension was one of the highlights of the entire trip to San Sebastian. He was very helpful telling us exactly where to go to get a round and had a great sense of humor. We had a great stay at Pension and have already recommended a number of friends to stay there! Thanks Javier and Pension... what people say » ! Also we survived the bulls! =) - EVERYTHING!!!!! The location was perfect. We had the most beautiful walk across the bridge into old town everyday. The staff did EVERYTHING possible to make sure we were happy and comfortable. The rooms were nice and big and cozy. Coffee from the machine in the lounge was great and convenient. The value was outstanding. We will stay here when in San Sebastian:)))))

  We spent the day in San Sebastian on the worst of possible days: terribly cold, rainy, stormy weather and the famous strike with everything imaginable closed: no bar or restaurant open to get a drink or lunch! Then we got to pension Garate and a most helpful and friendly young lady who spoke English very well welcomed us. The lady booked for us dinner closeby at restaurant Narru (from hotel Niza- an - The room was clean and comfortable. We had a balcony, which was great. The accommodation was in an excellent location, very close to the beach, and walking distance to all of the sights of San Sebastian. The staff were extremely helpful. I was feeling unwell the day after we arrived, and the lady at the Pension directed us to a very good medical centre. The staff also agreed to allow us to pick up our bags late in the evening (after we had checked out), due to us having to catch a late overnigh

  The location was perfect, right in the centre of the old city. The owners were considerate and helpful, allowing us to leave our bags there all day after we checked out as our flight was not leaving until the evening.   Our rooms were clean and comfortable and Isabella was friendly and helpful during our 3 night stay in San Sebastian. Breakfast of coffee/tea/juice and breads was set out for self-service each morning. On our last day we had an early train to catch and Isabella helped us with an early breakfast and called us a cab. She made us feel like we were at home and was very welcoming. We couldn't have asked for a more lovely hostess to make us feel welcome. The hostel is only a few hundred metres from the beach. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We had breakfast included which was also good - if you are lucky Isabella may have some delicious homemade bread!

  I would highly recommend Luarri. The location is very quiet and scenic and a nice escape from the bustle of the city, and the buses into town are quick (maybe 10 mins to Ondaretta Beach and 25 to Gizupkoa Square) and regular and go from outside the front door (a taxi is around €10 from the main taxi rank at the edge of the old town). The windows have shutters so your room will be pitch black which makes it easy to sleep in late - Luarri is a little gem located in a peaceful setting on the mountainside but only a couple of minutes by car away from Ondarretta beach. Conveniently, the local bus stops outside the hotel every half hour or so and drops off at the funicular railway and then on to the centre of San Sebastián. This is a charming, Basque-style, family-run hotel with modern, stylish bedrooms ( only 7, I think). Belen provided us with directions to the hotel and we found it easily. Free parking was a bonus. We

  I was afraid when I read the reviews before I made the reservation. Well, I belive most of the reviews are made by travelers first time in Spain or San Sebastian. I made a trip to Pais Vasco, I stayed in Bilbao and San Sebastian and this was the best one by far. Yes it's 5 km from the city center, if you don't have a car I w - This was the most comfortable and best appointed room we stayed in during two weeks of a motoring holiday in France and Spain. When I compilmented the owner, who could not have been more helpful, on the quality of the hotel, which I had taken to be a recent build, he told me that it was a 19th century structure which he and his wife had completely refurbished.
