Pensión Iturriza is an absolute little gem. For me this was a last minute booking, I had intended on staying at another place where my friends were staying, but that didn't work out so booked into PI instead - and I'm so glad I did! You will receive a warm welcome from your host with a list of recommended food places and an explanation about the city as well as an explanation of the location of the hotel within the city. The rooms are just lovely. They are superbly clean, comfortable and are.
all reviews » We liked almost everything about our stay. Ibon, the owner, was extremely helpful - giving us information about restaurants, tourist sites, etc. We stayed in two rooms - a double on the second floor (the grandparents) and the apartment on the sixth floor (family with 2 small children). Ibon is renovating the building so there was no elevator but this will be finished in a few weeks. And, as active people, this did not bother us at all. The rooms were clean and large, the view from the apartment. The apartment is amazing!! The view from the huge terrace unbeatable, you get an entire panorama over La Concha bay - wow!! A great place to stay for groups of friends or families. There are 2 bedrooms both with double beds, one room also has two single bunk beds. The sofa is huge and also extremely comfortable. The apartment is much nicer, spacious and well-equipped than the normal rooms so try to book the apartment. The owner has lots of great recommendations for places to eat and drink, all . This budget room was clean and simple with a contemporary design. It is small, but we were pleasantly surprised with how clean and nice everything was in both the bed and bathroom. The staff were friendly, and the old town location was a great base for exploring the city on foot. Unfortunately we didn't find the beautiful common area and kitchen and rooftop deck shown in the photos; our 2 windows only had views of the airshaft so we kept them shut at night for quiet. Ibon (the owner) was a great host. He spent time to explain where to go, and where to eat in good places. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. It's situation is an absolutely perfect location: in the old town, very close from the best places where to eat or have a drink, not far by foot from any place : from the beach, from the center, the old town.... But before all again the smile and welcome from Ibon should encourage any body to meet this guy and his place. Great, central yet quiet location. Owner is very helpful. For a pension, the rooms are modern and stylish, with good ensuite bathrooms. Happy medium between the old town cheaper pension with some of the feel of a modern hotel.g. The place is well located and the host was super friendly and helpful. It was clean and stylish.everything was newly renovated and the bed was really comfortable . Ibon offer free tea and coffee and water which is great. - The Host is very good pointing directions for the nicest spots to eat and visit, and also very friendly. - Nice, clean and very good positioned in the old part of the town, apart from the noisy bars. The staff was very friendly and professional. They provided a map and recommendations about food. This location is ideally set in San Sebastián for being near lots of restaurants and shopping. The regular room was missing some basic stuff like a long mirror, shelving space in the bathroom. But apart from that it was clean and comfortable. The room we took was the smallest. As the difference of price between a small or a bigger is not important, we would recommend to take a big room if available. But much better : the next time we will surely rent a flat that Ibon is preparing on the top of the building with a terrace !. Else: at the tv there are only spanish channels (it is a pity for those who don't speak spanish). But nobody is obliged to watch tv ! Shame on me.... Excuse me for that Ibon. The bathroom was tiny and not well deigned for space- I'm thinking of the toilet roll Holder.It was super clean and new though. Although the location was excellent for proximity to bars, restaurants, shops in the old village, unfortunately the upside was that it was noisy at night. Nothing. the walls are thin so tends to be slightly noisy in the mornings. Access to the pension is a little tricky by car; make sure you email the hotel well in advance to receive parking instructions. Walls are a little thin and the church bell takes a little time to get use to (stops at night). The heater was very loud and did not work well so It was cold and hard to sleep due to the noise. Unfortunately during our stay a lift was being installed which made it extremely difficult access to/from the room. The lift however will benefit other guests in future. The big low beam that runs thru the centre of the apartment, head danger. Nothing in particular but the rooms our stay would have been top rated if the rooms were aircontioned. Small rooms – but perfectly formed.
