1. LOCATION is excellent, very close to Metro station (Gran Via) & many city landmarks (Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, can be reached by walk). Hotel surrounding by many shops, big stores and restaurants (Jamon 55, Cafe & Te, Rong Hua chinese restaurant is just few choices). 2. ROOM is quite big, greenish colour, clean, and have a balcony with a view to the street. Bathroom is quite big, good hot shower and clean towel. 3. FACILITY is good. all reviews » Great location near Gran Via metro station on the nice shopping street. Elevator to 4th floor. Rooms have windows for inner court, so it's quiet to sleep. You will have own keys for the building and for your room, so it's safe. The single room with shower is really nice and cosy, with air condition, sink, good mirrow, a kettle to boil water for tea etc. Also the bed was comfortable. It was my second time I stayed here and I was perfectly happy with everything. Excellent location right on the main pedestrian shopping alley. The hotel is away from the roads, so there is no street noise. Sol is just a short walk away. Wifi worked fine in the room. Staff was friendly and let me store my stuff. They have a computer in the lobby for guests to use. The guy I met when I checked in spoke English well. The other women doesn't seem to speak any, but with a little effort we could communicate. Excellent location and extremely great value for money. Absolutely spotless rooms with friendly and obliging staff. Beware of scam that most Madrid hotels use: they charge your credit card in your home currency without asking. The exchange rate they use is much higher than what your bank will charge and they charge a fee on top of it. If you protest, they will pretend not to speak English, then they'll say they can't undo it. If you pay by cc ask for it to be in Euros before handing over your card. The walls are thin, you can hear everything from the other rooms and the hallway. Considering that this was the only thing I didn’t appreciate, I would still recommend this hotel. Bring earplugs just in case. I have no complaints. 2 thieves followed us into the building in the morning, but they didn't succeed. So everyone should be very careful at the early morning. The advertisement showed a nice terrace, which is why I booked this room, but when we got there the receptionist, who did not speak any English basically said we could not have the keys to open the gate to go onto the terrace, maybe someone was hurt. Also it would be nice to have some drawers there to unpack a bit and to put a suitcase on, we left ours on the floor and just lived out of them besides the clothes we hung up. Would not want to be there too long, two nights was ok. There's no kitchen (but there was a tiny pot - enough to make some tea - in the room). - They don't accept amex (but I understand since they take the most commission - 24hr reception does not mean there is someone guarding the place all the time, still felt safe thought - if you smoke, there is no option but to go 4 floors down (elevator) and go outside the building. Personnel don't speak english, but it's not a big problem. Elevator stops between the floors what causes some difficulties to get bags to reception. My one bedrom room was wery small. Bathrom was recently renovated but at morning was unidentifiet bad smell. this is my second trip in this hostal, my first stay was perfect. nothing. Got wallet stolen first night - not in hotel but Madrid is popular for pick pockets - take extra care!. Bathroom is a little bit small. shower was incredibly small, couldn't move in it. Nothing!!!. The staff dosent speak English at all, which is commen thing in Madrid but they should do something regarding this issue. Noisy! Bring earplugs as the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything in neighbouring rooms. I disliked, that wasn't no tea spoons. A bit of street noise. Thin walls, and the staff were nice but don't speak any english. N/A. none. Staff absent and a bit rude. Noise. I've been there just one night, nothing wrong to say. Staff speak only Spanish so learn a few words and prepare for sign language for everything else. Parking is a problem around the pedestrianised centre, if travelling by car, prepare for a 10 or 15 minute walk to the nearest underground parking. (EUR21 per 24 period). Little English spoken and reception staff somewhat elusive. Only two tiny towels, and only one long pillow to share. no tv in the room. Staff does not speak any English. And very small room. Shower is in the room. Not very comfortable. staff could not understand English. matress.
