The staff were very friendly and helpful and provided recommendations of where to eat at a reasonable price and places to visit and kindly marked these for us on a map. The rooms were nice and airy and very clean. They also served free tea and coffee between 4pm and 9pm which I thought was a nice touch. We also had breakfast there one evening which was excellent. Would recommend anyone to stay here. Loved the little courtyard where you could chill and relax. The hostal was great value for money.
all reviews » Lovely little courtyard oasis in the centre of the Hostal, small room but well laid out, and a fresh clean decor and comfortable bed. I was in one of the 4 rooms which face each other above the courtyard which meant the noise and privacy aspects concerned me on arrival but it turned it to be very quiet in the evening, nearly all the guests seemed to be in bed at 11pm. The free tea/coffee and cake put out in the afternoon was a lovely touch and really appreciated. Check in was friendly and effic. Friendly, welcoming staff; the building has a wonderful atmosphere, from the patterned tiles on the walls to the internal patio and the old staircase; breakfast (toast with ham/cheese) was simple but good, with seconds available they also have coffee/tea and cake in the afternoons in their patio! Great location amidst the narrow, twisty streets of the old city and just a few minutes from everything. Loved everything about this place! The attention to detail in the decoration of the rooms and the patio area was so much more than one would expect from a hostel in this price range.The staff( particularly the younger woman and man) were incredibly helpful and gave loads of useful informaton about where to visit, eat etc (and just as helpfully,where not to eat. Cant recommend the place enough!!. Amazing location and a really nice room - clean, spacious and comfy. Proper bedding as well as opposed to the other Spanish hotels/hostels we stayed at where you only get a sheet instead of a duvet. Ask for hair dryer at the reception and they will provide it. Also the staff is really helpful and friendly and it has a very central location - 2 min walk from la Catedral. Definitely a winner. The location is brilliant; in the atmospheric old town and a short walk from the Mezquita and the Roman bridge but outside of the immediate souvenir-shop zone. The memory is of staying in an historic building, full of interesting detail, not just another hotel. We were served generous breakfasts in the internal patio and the owners provided lots of information about what to see in Cordoba.This was a great base to explore cordoba, area has lots of character. A three minute walk to the Mesquita, so can take frequent advantage of the early morning free entry times. The renovation of the convent done nicely and sensitively to its history and to the area. Owners made helpful suggestions of places to see and places to eat, helped us with luggage. . Very close to the Mezquita and walkable distance to the local bus stop #3 and #12. Very clean room and comfortable bed, a beautiful patio and dinner room with free coffee/tea after 5pm. Delicious and large portion of breakfast with fruit, ham, cheese, yogurt, crispy toasts, cakes, fresh orange (narajas espanyolas) juice and coffee / tea just for 4.5 euros. A great hotel located in the very center of Cordoba. A very nice atmosphere (free coffee and tea in the afternoon, nicely decorated, an adorable open-air lobby, etc.). For security the entrance was a gate that was always locked and so new arrivals had to ring the very loud bell, and even getting in with the key was noisy. Could hear everything from the courtyard and I am sure the room would be very hot in summer, though they have excellent shading. Nada. It can be a little noisy at night, but that was mainly thanks to other guests who were not very considerate and thoughtfull and though nothing of having very loud drunk conversations one night. The roof garden was not open as was being renovated, which was disappointing. Some double rooms bigger and lighter than others, so specify if size/natural light is important. . would be more convenient if there is hair dryer in the room. Not much space to store luggage, but beds were big and comfortable, which is more important than the space anyway. You can sometimes hear the neighbors, a bit small rooms and bathroom. For us no problem, especially because of the low price of the rooms. Under the bed could have done with a sweep out which bothered my husband more than me. Can't think of anything. The bathroom. Not being able to stay there for longer!. Because this building is so old there is quite a lot of maintenance to do with many cracked and broken tiles about the place. I didn't notice an air conditioner in the room though. Could be a problem in the summer. The walls are thin. not complaining about hotel but accesibility but as it is in old town in the narrow streets etc. what can one expect,so as a result a long way to go to street parking and if you drive to the place very difficult to find as all the trafic routing has recently been changed so dont rely on GPS to find it. Lack of parking in the city,. Wi Fi didn't work in the bedroom. Quite noisy from the road and the room above. the only thing that we critisize that it was a bit hot at night as there is no air condition in the room. we recommend a fan will help but we didnt ask for it as we were tired at night. still we liked the place. The shower overflowed in Room 2. The water runs along the sides of the tray and cannot be prevented from flowing onto the floor of the bathroom. A slight modification would resolve the problem. Street was noisy. taxi trip from station to hostal dropped us off 200 m from hostal saying street to hostal were too narrow. Taxi to station picked us up from the hostal. The bed was wobbly, and kept us up half the night. the room and bathroom were a bit small. Narrow streets in Codoba, and lack of parking availability. Smokers in the courtyard stank out the apartment. Gloomy unlit staircase - (but perhaps this is intentional to imbue atmosphere?). The old smell in the rooms. Nothing to mention. My only observation is that the hot water supply was not entirely consistent. Windows were not 100% soundproof. the interior window of our bedroom was located on top of the stairs and it didnt close properly so the noise was a bit too much.
