Bilbao Hotels

We have stayed twice in this hotel and we have been extremely pleased both times. It is the best expression of a boutique hotel: small, independent, comfortable, very nicely decorated, personal, friendly... Location and decoration are excellent, right on the sea, quiet, with wonderful views. They have been very brave with the decor (flowered wall paper in the rooms, something you don't come to expect in a hotel) and it worked: it is modern, elegant and at the same time you feel more in a home - Simon

Even though the hotel is not located in the city center, it is easily accessible by Metro (which by the way, it is super safe and extremely clean!) and bus. The rooms are spacious enough, even though the bathtub was a bit hard to get into. The location of the hotel is a quiet neighborhood not too far from the old town, 20 minutes if you like to take a leisure walk, 10 minutes by metro. My boyfriend and I recently spent 1 week in San Sebastian and having travelled from Dublin to Bilbao we spent out 1st and last night in Bilbao. We love boutique hotels so having searched for some in Bilbao i came across Hotel Lopez de Haro. The hotel's website is fab and gives a great idea of what the hotel looks like. It cost us €100 a night for the room without breakfast and this seemed very good to us for a 5 star boutique hotel!! It definitely was value for money!! I speak fluent Spa - Orji

Stayed in Hesperia in September 09 for one night. Very funky hotel, very helpful at reception, nice restaurant and the room we had was fantastic (if a little dark). - David

We just stayed here for one night. We arrived late and got a taxi from the airport, just 25 euros. Easy check in, the room was fairly standard. It was very convenient for the Guggenheim, just a 5 minute walk across the river. Also handy for the tram stop which goes directly to the bus station. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was good, we recommend the tortilla! - Barbara

this hotel is absolutely amazing, bilbao isnt a great city and is not very touristy but the hotel made it a good stay, it was great value and was cheaper than hostels in the city, we spent most of our time in the room enjoying the plasma tv!! would definitely recommend it!! excellent!! there was 3 of us so we got a two bed and they put in a camp bed which was fine but we could have fit 4 ppl in the two beds they are that big!! - Neil

We stayed in Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao for 4 nights at the end of October. My overwhelming impression of the hotel and Bilbao itself is one of friendleness and all the people were very nice. The hotel is very modern and in a great location with the best views of the Guggenheim musuem. The service was good and efficient. We enjoyed the room and found the price very reasonable. Location when you are in a city for a few days is very important and it was great here with a 10 minute walk to centre of - Wai

We stayed 1 night at Petit Palace Arana to check out the Guggenheim on our way back to Madrid. The hotel lobby was small but efficient, elevator was just fine, and open stairs helped make it feel more open. All the staff we encountered was VERY helpful, spoke English, very pleasant, A+...they made it easy for us to figure out our way & see everything efficiently in our short time in Bilbao. The sleek tram to the Guggenheim is right across the street, which was perfect because it was raining - James

The hotel is situated near the bus station - so if you take the bus to Bilbao from the airport it is just a short walk away. It is also located just across the street from San Mames, so if you like football it's awesome. If you don't, don't worry about noise, you wont hear it inside the hotel and no need to worries about the crowd either because after the game, the crowd walks away in a different direction. I stayed in the hotel during the Bilbao festival so it was a little noisy at night. There - Susan

I returned here (having stayed in 2005 for 5 days) just for one night, with my parents. They were very impressed with the hotel, in particular the public areas. They also loved their large room. For the money, this must be one of the best Bilbao has to offer. Location is perfect both for the Gugg and the old town. Recommended. - Aileen
