Stayed 4 nights at this well-managed hotel with very friendly and efficient staff. Our room (junior suite) had a great view on the river and the Guggenheim museum. The coloured windows are a somewhat strange gimmick, but you get used to it after a while. We enjoyed being able to rent bicycles at the hotel and discover Bilbao at our own speed. Breakfast includes some quite tasty bread!. The free bikes were great. Bilbao is excellent for cycling around and we managed to get way further than on foot. Staff were really exceptionally friendly and pleasant. We used their package that included the bikes and Guggenheim tickets. Convenient. Ideally situated for the Guggenheim and old city.

A minor detail is that the bathroom is too modern for my liking (lots of stainless steel, chrome, glass, halogen spotlights, the door doesn’t close completely). We travelled with our own car and the gps system found the hotel flawlessly but....while arriving at the spot that the gps said "you have arrived" we didn't see "Hesperia" anywhere! After passing the spot three times we just parked the car and went looking. It turned out that "Hesperia" was written on the window in tiny letters you impossibly can see when sitting in your car.We requested non-smoking rooms but were on a smoking floor and one of the rooms reeked. No room service for alcohol. The front desk clerk gave us the wrong directions out of town towards Barcelona.No late bar. Mirrors in bathroom not well-lit. Breakfast a little overpriced. lack of exterior signage--very difficult to finnd even when on the right street. There was a very large party staying at the same time and the hotel could not cope - the restaurant was closed, the bar was overwhelmed and there was not enough room for breakfast (we went out).We didn't take breakfast because prize was too high compared to the verygood offer in the bar in the surround. i felt that as i had pre-booked, hotel rooms should already have been assigned. On arrival, receptionist had to find rooms available and ask room requests. Initially rooms not ready (although after 1300).No apology was made and it was suggested we go to bar for drink. in this situation i feel that hotel should apologise and provide complimentary tea/coffee until room ready.

By Car (9.5 km - about 15-20 minutes):
- Exit the airport and take the BI-2704/BI-3704.
- Cross Asua-Lauroeta town.
- Continue on the BI-3704.
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and continue on the BI-3704 (Bilbao-Plencia Errepidea) road.
- Leave Asua-Lauroeta, staying on the BI-3704.
- Continue for about 2 km until you reach the junction with the N637.
- Take the N637 and pass through the Túneles de Artxanda tunnels (toll: EUR 1.35).
- Enter into Bilbao city centre.
- Take the Paseo Campo de Volantín - the hotel is located on this road.

By Bus:
There is a bus running every half an hour from the airport to Bilbao: Bizkaibus number A-3247. This is available every day from 06:15 to 00:00.

- Take the Parque de Escurce exit into Bilbao and head along Calle Juan de Garay.
- Continue until you reach Plaza Zabálburu.

- Turn left into Paseo Campo de Volantín, where the hotel is located.

By Train :
