We are an elderly couple from Sweden who spent three days in La Casa Gran. We highly appreciated this grandiose B&B apartment with its Art Deco details and its central location within walking distance from buses and important sights. Our room was highly original - 4 M. to the roof, with an ultramodern bathtub on the floor, and a small but adequate bathroom en suite. No ac but a ceiling fan. The house lies in a busy intersection, but closing the balcony doors as well as indoor and outdoor sh.
all reviews » La Casa Gran is located on a chic boulevard in the centre of Barcelona with easy access to all the city centre. The accomodation is a small number of private en-suite rooms in a first floor grand apartment building, very stylish with high ceilings and elegant tasteful decor. Montse Bou is the charming lady, an architect, who is the owner and who lives in one part of the suite. She was very helpful in providing prompt email directions from the airport and conference centre I was visiting. On arr. La Casa Gran is a charming apartment on the second floor of a historic building with easy access to the metro and many of the great sites in the area. A true experience of actual Barcelona living. Montse is a fantastic hostess and provided much guidance to help us find our way around. The dogs are delightful although never really near the guests unless you wish to seek them out. Breakfast is simple but more than adequate with fresh fruit, excellent pastries, local ham and cheese, and a variety. Great bed and breakfast / boutique hotel in the heart of the city right next to the orange and green line double decker bus line My wife and I stayed here after a cruise and it felt like we were staying with a close friend. Montse is so sweet and such a gracious host. This is a really cool building with sky high ceilings and original art adorned walls. If you are looking to drop the hotel experience and get a more personal authentic stay, then this is the place. Can't wait to go back. Since the apartment is on the corner of some busy streets the noise can be disturbing if you are not used to city living. But, if you close all three layers of the windows properly you can filter our 90% of the noise and the traffic is much lighter at night when you are sleeping. Close the louver shutters tight and make sure both inside doors are locked in place at the bottom. As with the majority of accommodation in a city there is some traffic noise but we had ear plugs and slept like logs. All was great. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. There is no sign on the building, and the address is not found correctly by GPS. There is also no possibility to stop the car next to the entrance. So in case you go there by car, make sure to ask for the directions for the parking and for the apartment in advance. can't think of anything. No AC Can be noisy with the window open. Everyting was perfect. The noise of traffic! Impossible to open the window at night for air and sleep through the noise. Nothing in particular. Traffic noise. Unfortunately because it was on a main road it could at times be very noisy . bedroom windows face busy street - slightly too loud during night - but nothing unbearable. Bathroom is small. No air condition.
