The hotel had a lot of charm. It was clean (clean towels daily and beds changed during a 5 night stay), a great shower with plenty of very hot water, comfy beds and heating! The staff were friendly and very helpful. Although quite basic the breakfasts were fresh and plentiful. The position of the hotel just off La Rambla was superb. The rooms varied greatly but they were able to change one of our rooms easily and we were given a choice. It's a great hotel for a group of friends on a short break.
all reviews » The location was brilliant! - just off La Ramblas, 2 minutes walk from the metro and 3 minutes walk from a Carrefour supermarket. Our room was simple but comfortable enough for our needs. We were particularly pleased to have a room on the fifth floor - it meant that our room was very quiet. We couldn't hear the street noise at all, which meant that after a day surrounded by the buzz of the city, our room was a good place to relax, switch off from the noise, and sleep! We also loved the uniquen. The location was perfect and you find a lot of eating places nearby and just few steps away was La Ramblas where you can enjoy the crowd and awesome Mercad Boqueria...breakfast was good and satisfying...since the room had Air conditioner we could survive the humidity....we loved our stay...:). We stayed at Hotel Peninsular previously and knew its great location just off La Ramba, knew how to get there from the bus stop, and enjoyed the inner courtyard with all the hanging plants. Good breakfast - especially the oj. The. The location of this hotel is fantastic its about 2 mins walk from liceu metro and la rambla. Its also on a fairly quiet but safe street. The room was basic and clean. The hotel has a indoor courtyard to sit in. location was excellent,staff was very nice, professional and helpful with recommendations for good places to eat,shopping and good sites. I will definitely stay here again. comfortable, brilliant central location, helpful staff, good value, very atmospheric with a really quite lovely central atrium covered in hanging baskets. The hotel is located very close to Plaza Catalunya and the Bari Gothic Quarter. The room is modestly furnished, but very clean. Breakfast is consistent. I stayed on the 1st floor and in my room wifi worked. For those who just want to have a place to sleep, is the perfect place. If you want TV, coffee maker and hair dryer in the room, look elsewhere. We liked penisuar. The toilet is very good! The sink is near your bed! You can brush your teeth leaving in your bed. Penisuar is the best! Stay here and have a good time!!! We can check in our flight using the computer. location was superb right in the heart of everything and yet very quiet. Un-assuming exterior beautiful communal space only available to guests. I like the hotel's location and the staff. breakfast good, nicely set out inside. Location next to Las Ramblas. As it caters for student groups it could be a bit noisy at night, especially if you had a room at the front. Our room only had a small window, which meant that the room was a little dark. However, the room next door to ours had a balcony, so if we were to use this hotel again, we would request that room. Sometimes the bathroom stinks... The hotel was fine, however, for what you get its not the cheapest. A week earlier we stayed in a nicer and considerably cheaper hotel just around the corner. No external window in the hotel room either. wifi didnt work at all in the room but worked great in the hallway. Only one pillow, difficult to read in bed. No parking and the parking suggested by the hotel was very expensive, would advise anybody to shop around. we got parking for 7 euros a day rather than the 23 euros suggested by the hotel. Large open area with tables and chairs. This was offf limits after 10pm!! Felt a bit like being back at school. there was a group of students who were no trouble but had someone from the hotel ordering them in a loud voice to go to their rooms as there was no meeting allowed in the area after 10pm. Pity there wasn't a window in the bedroom but there was one in the adjoining bathroom. Bit noisy late at night but that's what you would expect. there is nothing not to like. Very basic. Breakfast consisted of ham, cheese and bread rolls which could have been fresher. Our room has a foul odor from the bathroom drain -- it seems staff hadn't checked it out in a while. (The desk clerk was able to give us another room in the middle of the night and we moved our things in the morning.) ... Be aware that street noise can be loud in front rooms. Nothing. Noisy with the courtyard in the middle, although this was OK after 11pm and I was out most of the day anyway so it didn't matter. I would have preferred a room with an external window, but it wasn't all that necessary. We were asked to pay cash instead of by card. Both minor issues. Room was basic. Bed. Small desk. One chair. No tv, no amenities . Elevator was small, slow and sometimes took a long time to arrive. Old, looks as sign of poverty, no window. bugs in the bath and the payment system. Would be good to pay the entire amount upon booking. lack of a hair dryer poor reception room wi-fi. Funiture , blanket and floor cover. Absence of telephone in room. the room was very cold. nothing. I didn't have hot water in the room, maybe this was a one day issue. Very noistly. School groups being left to be just a little too noisy In areas clear marked to be quite after 9pm. n/a. Very small room, furnished very modest. However, the facilities in the room are very minimum. There is an elevator in the hotel. But we stay at the Attic Level and therefore we have to walk up one level. the elevator is small and old. Waiting time could be long due to small capacity. drain smells but this was common around the whole city. First night paid in advance with card , second and final night to be paid on departure. When we arrived told we preferred cash but actually would only take cash although cash machines are nearby had also forgotten city tax as had booked in advance and not remembered that information. Very very BASIC....do not stay here if you are expecting comfort. No facilities to speak of and breakfast very minimal consisting of just juice, coffee or tea cornflakes, white bread ham and cheese. Nothing else and no choice. No spare pillow in the room, can't use the court yard to sit and have a drink with friends, we where told to call it a night around 9pm. The very unfriendly reception man on arrival, however the next reception man was very friendly and helpful! Check-in was supposed to be noon and we timed our arrival so as to arrive at noon, drop bags off and head out for the day... when we arrived at 12.20 the room wasn't ready, for at least another hour... not a huge deal but a little annoying. building has a great resonance due to the shape and if the neighbors are noise is impossible to not share this with them. Not quite up to modern standards. Quite old, very noisy at night, no windows to outside. Overuse of chlorine disinfectant for cleaning rooms - strong odour of it was the first impression that was made on me when I entered the room - many people have an allergy to it. room very basic, no wardrobe in my room, no view either. WiFi hardly works in the rooms. Not siutable for business trips, more a backpackers hostel. Very noisy.
