Perfect location in the very center of the city, next to main trafic point Plaza Catalunya, 2 minutes walk from metro station Universitad, so it is easy to get to any part of the city.
Extremely frıendly and hospitable stuff tells you where to go and what to see in the city. In your room you will find traffic maps and a list of selected restaurants, which contains not only the most expensive ones.
Though breakfast isn't served in the hotel there are free tee and coffee facilities and a fridge, . all reviews »
We were three young girls exploring barcelona with a low budget but looking for a comfortable hotel. The staff member Ella was not only beautiful but incredibly helpful in all aspects. She would give us directions and provide us with maps as well as recommendations of places to eat nearby which we ended up going to each night and for breakfast! We all needed to print off boarding passes and she would go the extra mile to help this happen. She also translated any Spanish for me. I cannot reccomm.
This hotel was perfect for us. The location is near metro stations, the airport bus, and in between the old town and the Eixample. The rooms are large, with high ceilings, and look modern and recently refurbished. The bathroom and shower are great.
Obviously the Gran Via produces a lot of noise but there is a double window closing to the front rooms which shuts out the noise.
The staff is very friendly and has helped us in planning visits to the main attractions. Thanks Elvira!.
Beautiful traditional building with nice balcony'S. On the street
side, nice rooms with very large windows. Despite busy street not
bothered by noise in the room. Quiet, spacious, clean hotel. Nice new
bathroom. Number of additional free amenities in the hotel (computer,
fridge and coffee/tea maker). Close to many attractions.
Enthusiastic and friendly staff. Elvira, the hotel manager, speaks very
good English and is very helpful.
very kind ,helpfull and friendly staff, they help us about all our problems (like finding our lost luggage, map locations, flamenco -meal or shopping suggestions..etc)
and the location of hotel is very good, you can go to la rambla only 10 minutes by walking..clean and good design rooms and tea or coffee is free..thanks a lot ..that was our 3rd hotel in our trip but we think the best one because we felt like our house..
What's NOT to like? The staff and location are excellent - central to all, steps away from both the Metro and the Aerobus stop. Mostly though, we were treated like part of a family with cava on arrival and a beautiful little terrace/patio with lush plantlife and a little table to enjoy life and soak up Bacelona. We will stay at the Hotel Center Gran Via in the future even if we can afford much "nicer" hotels!.
1. Perfect location, we only used the subway once, most attractions are within walking distance.
2. Very friendly and helpful staff! Feels as if it is a guesthouse, though it's a hotel.
3. Clean rooms, high ceilings.
4. Very good quality for the price.
Some people complained about noise from the subway, but it's really so faible, you can hardly notice it after a long and enjoyable day in Barcelona:).
GREAT location. In center of the city with easy access to most tourist attractions as well as shops, bars, cafes, restaurants,Starbucks. Very close, 2minute walk, to Metro station (universitat)
Staff very friendly, and extremely helpful and keen to provide info and advice/suggestions of things to do and places to eat. Very friendly.
Our large, spacious room had a lovely little sun terrace.
This hotel is one of the best I have been to. It is very comfortable and clean. The stuff (Elvira and Herminio) are amazing people: they are helpful and warm and it felt like a family staying with them. The location is perfect - very close to Plaza Catalunya and yet very quiet and peaceful. Our room had a wonderful terrace - where we had a glass of cava before going to sleep.
Hotel for Smokers + easy going people, available with smoking terrace / balcony and 24H coffee/ tea station and fridge for your groceries. Best central Location with 24H super markets and Tappas Bars, Coffee Shops and Restaurants all around. A Step to Subway Station and 300M to main shopping Roads . We loved it ! We will be back for sure.
The hotel is perfectly located, it's within walking distance of the centre of the city. The rooms are lovely and retain the character of the rest of the building. Probably the best thing about the hotel was the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Barcelona.
Elvira at the reception desk was amazing. She spent considerable time
working with us on suggested itineraries , places to eat, and was always
available and pleasure to deal with. She's a real asset to
travelers! Room was clean as advertised. Close to Las Ramblas, metro and
city. Sites.
Location was really convenient for access to and from airport and for walking to major sites. We felt very comfortable there. Room was very quiet and even had a nice patio we would have used if the weather had cooperated. Helpful desk person - when she/he was there.
Joey waited for us to check in and was very friendly. He was very
helpful during our stay and helped us to print our flamingo dance
tickets that were booked online. Lovely large shower recess. Nice
balcony for us to see the street and viewing people passing by.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Hermini was super organised and very knowlegeable.
I liked the terrace area outside our room and particularly appreciated the wine we received.
Perfect staff. We were taken care of very well. That literally compensates all disadvantages. Location is convenient for city sightseeing. The room was maid well, towels changed daily.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Hotel only about 200m from the airport bus stop coming from El Prat airport. Great location and big room with terrace.
The staff were fantastic! So helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel it's self was very central, very clean and perfect for our city break. We LOVED it.
The location was perfect, in less then 5 minutes you are on the ramblas
and shopping area. The room was clean and good. Bathroom was also good.

The staff here are very nice and helpful. They are all speak good English.
All rooms beautifully refurbished, quiet and extremely comfortable.
Elvira in particular but all the staff in general. The jazz music.
Staff very friendly.. Like we stay at our home.
Good location.
Elvira was charming and helpful.
Good location, nice staff, clean etc.
Great location, good staff.
You feel like at home.
Excellent value!.
good location.
everything!!!.
Staff.
The only disadvantage is that a standart room is really small but it really doesn't matter if come there only to sleep.
Due to the high ceilings (4 meters high) and the beautiful traditional
tiled floor the shifting of furniture from the neighbors resounds in the
room. This disturbs the peace in the morning.
shampoo.
Like I said, you're part of a family at this hotel so if you don't like listening to your fellow "family-members" come home from a night on the town at 4-6 am, this might not be the place for you. But, if you can put up with a little noise in the early AM before everyone gets to their room and gets their heads down - it's the BEST!.
Maybe providing no breakfast could be a disadvantage, but there are lots of places nearby where you could go, that's what we did.
Felt a bit like a hostel. Was a bit noisy. No tea/coffee facilities in room, or fridge. But both were available to use in the corridor area.
But really only minor issues, hotel was great!.
Our window opened to a noisy kitchen area which made for lots of noise
in early am and other eating times. This should be disclosed in the room
descrtiption to avoid an unpleasant surprise.
Had to contact hotel from airport when we arrived as there is no reliable full time desk coverage.
They only have staff rostered for checking in and out from 10am to 2pm.
But, they will be there if you let them know the checking in time
outside these hours.
I didn't like the initial booking-in process.
Poor noise isolation sounds the major disadvantage here although we were not burden much from that.
The biggest thing we suffered from was cold. The rooms don't have heating other than standard wall mounted conditioners. Be ready for chill if your visit is not during the high season. I guess this is the common problem for the area.
twice bed i/o double. (but already communicated by staff before our arrival and accepted by us).
Nothing.
Reception hours in summer are: 10:00 to 14:00hrs and 18:00 to 3:00hrs. If your check-in is another time, you have to contact them.
Nothing.
A little noisy Shower was slippery.
We could hear the noise in other rooms. The walls were not very good
safe guarding us from the noise.
nothing.
none.
Though there was a small mirror in the well-equipped bathroom, there was none in the bedroom. Also no tea-making facility, except in the general reception area. However these are tiny criticisms about a beautifully run hotel.
The space in the bathroom was a little tight.
Felt a little bit like a hostel, but that didn´t do much.
no slippers in the room.
No fridge in room.
