Great place. This is old building with very high ceiling and a lot of air, with beautiful old (18th century original or looking original) style decor on walls and ceiling. The porch has two big stairs and elevator is typical for this old buildings - with manual doors and small metal cage. Old huge doors on entry to the hall and the window is basically two huge doors as well with embedded windows. Looks very cool. Our room has great balcony with street view. As for the room it was clean, bed was.
all reviews » It's rather a budget one, but the location is very good, very close not only to Plaza Catalunya but also to Parc de la Cuitadella. A very interesting atmosphere of an old house, with once rather luxurious wooden decorations, now a little bit aging, but still alluring. The rooms are small but clean. A word of advice: go for a "superior room" with the balcony. It's an essential feature for a beautiful late night session after you have enjoyed full day in the city. Hostal Girona is located in a lovely 19th century building, and is charmingly fitted out with mosaic tile floors, ornate ceilings, floor to ceiling french doors leading to balconies, and antiques. It's conveniently located just a few blocks off of Plaça Catalyuna. I found it to be very clean and comfortable, the staff was polite and friendly, and the price was right!. Great hostel, the best I have ever seen. Would not call it hostel more a hotel. We had big room with a huge balcony, large flat TV. Clean ,stylish, shared bathroom was clean and big. Staying in this hostel is a real experience as it is in a building where you would have to dish out at least 3/4 million £ for a small apartment. Staff is great, room was clean and prepared accordingly. Location is very good, close to old city center and Nord bus station as well. It's the best proposition for that price. The street (Carrer de Girona) tends to be a bit noisy, the walls are thin, and running the water causes a repetitive loud sound, so if you're a light sleeper, you might have a difficult time of it. The pillows were too long to have a rest with comfort. And one more - it was very "good" audibility. Could be a little noisy with the windows to interior hall. But this does not cause inconveniences. No clear pointer of the hotel in the street. was advertised as free parking & yet when we got to hotel it was street parking only & it was hell finding a spot & we had to keep running down for 2 days adding euros to the parking meter - which by the way they monitor rigorously so make sure you replenish the meter on time!!. Our room (17) was a little small, but still well fitted out, and plenty of storage space. A little hard to find, as reception is on second floor, and you need a key to access the front door, and bell system a little confusing. Overall great for the budget traveller, safe and clean. Was at first difficult to find as it's incorporated in same building as a language school. Cannot find anything what i didnt like. The shower in the room is very tiny, but the common bathroom shower was great. Not too keen on the in-room shower unit - would never use that to be honest. The shared bathrooms are great. Also the top 'sham' pillow was not washed when I checked in to my room so I didn't use it, but all the rest of the bedding was very clean. N/A. Nothing. Internet dropped out a lot but ok once in the main area. Small shower in room but there is another large one in shared bathroom. Nothing. My only complaint was the toilet and plumbing. Some bad smells and the shower and sink took ages to drain. There was dark inside our room, the only window was looking at the wall. When someone goes into the bathroom we heard how the water flowing down, it the morning it annoyed us. A bit noisy if you face the street, but with shutters closed - fine. Basically, no window in the room. You don't know whether is a day or night outside. Small room, tiny shower and noisy electric toilet. bathroom : no hook to hang the towels, noisy pump. nothing. the room was very dark because the window was oppostie to a wall. Noises in the bathroom (boiler?). Nothing really, maybe some noise from the street, but the ear plugs helped. Would have loved a kettle or at least a vending machine to get coffee, tea or even hot water. Rooms very close one another. very noisy hotel. You can even hear a zip opening from the next room at night. - high staircase, difficult to enter - the hostel is in the same building with flats and there is common intercom with people who leaves there. Very small bathroom. The elevator. It was stuck on the bottom floor when I was leaving. No big deal. Toilet outside the room (but we knew we were getting this); Shower in the room was a bit too small. the rooms are very noisy. bedding was limited. none. I only missed some more organized room for clothes. Another mirror, other than the one in the bathroom, would be good. Also additional lighting. Only the pillow. A spanish fashion long and tough pillow not very comfortable for us. We had a double room with a very small double bed. The room and the bed were both really small. The room n. 9 is absolutely not raccomended!. The heating system of the room was too high during the night but it was not possible to control it from the room. very noisy i the rooms. you hear every thing from your neighbours.
