We stayed at 3 guest houses during our trio to South Africa and this one was the most comfortable and cleanest. We had a very long journey from Cape Town that day and the lovely huge bath was a welcoming sight indeed. The continental breakfast filled us up for our onward journey the next day and the manager was very friendly and recommended places to visit on our way. We will definitely stay here again if we are back in Port Elizabeth. all reviews »
The facility was clean and comfortable. We stayed here before visiting Addo Elephant Park. This guest house is about one hour from the main entrance (30 minutes from the southern park entrance). It was a great inexpensive alternative for a one night accommodation before we went to the park. Arrival and departure from the accommodation were very easy, making it great for our late arrival and very early departure.
Garden Gate Guesthouse is in Newton Park which is central and close to the city and beach. It is situated behind the Garden Gate Florist shop and is quite private and secure. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom, access to the garden, a kitchen that is shared between the 2 guest rooms and a nice breakfast nook. Very pleasant, homely feel and friendly staff.
the place is absolutely clean, situated in A beautiful garden setting and A florist next door,which was handy for my purpose of visiting P E. relatives in hospital. very nicely furnished en decorated, good value for money only the breakfast inadequate se next door block.

Our room only had one set of towels. It would have been better to have had two.
the breakfast was totally inadequate compared to any other establishments I often visit, only serial, toast and yogurt for breakfast. no eggs no bacon no sausages nothing meaty to start your day.

No internet , very limited TV channels.
Breakfast and the bedding and towels were not changed daily.
Could put a table and chairs in the garden.
No lounge area to relax in, no garden chairs. No DSTV. No option of cooked breakfast, cereal, toast and yojurt get boring after a few days.
No mirror in Room . plugs limited. No lounge or place to sit. only one chair in room. Breakfast.
The owner /manager locked my driver into the room and removed all
the towels from bathroom. The staff were also told to check if anything
was stolen once he left. If you do not want black guests dont advertise
on this site. You are a racist. I will never make use of these
facilities again !.
