As disabled person i was concerned i would not be able to get around ,the facilities were excellent and very wheelchair friendly the staff and management was very helpful and pleasant to talk to.i thouroghly enjoyed my stay at the makaranga and would recommend it to all especially those that have disablities. The whole place was amazing. Due to other arrangements we were not able to dine there but breakfast was super. We would like to consider a group with acess to the under cover parking. For about 5+ rooms for 2 nights what would a rate be?.

The setting is beautiful, the rooms nice and big and the staff great. The reception staff in particular made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in. The tranquil surroundings and comfort of our room.The overall stay was excellent as this was our wedding anniversary getaway and we really enjoyed. The staff at the Makaranga are fantastic. The gardens are stunning. It also feels safe and secure which is comforting. Great place to relax and enjoy tranquility. Restaurant was not spectacular. Got blue bacon two days in a row which was disgusting, but the staff exchanged it for us without any hassle. Unfortunately our room was close to the glass security door into the hotel and our sleep was disturbed until around 2am on Sunday morning but guests coming and going and the door banging loudly as it closed. There should either be a plug in the bathrooom or a mirror in the bedroom close to a plug. Drying my hair in the mornings is a mission. Rooms can be a little cold in spring time. 1. Breakfast (Omelette) made with used oil and thus stained and rubbery. 2. TV screens the size of a laptop too small and 3. Limited DSTV channels not good for sports taveller. Our suite was next to a very noises generator, we asked to be moved. The second room was quite run down for a luxury suite. The carpet were dirty with burn marks in them. The food was very disappointing, especially breakfast! I ordered eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The meal came completly cold so I asked for a new dish. They decided just to heat the food up so I ended up with cooked smoked salmon. However management did rectify the situation. The chef made a horrible breakfast on the sunday of our stay and the blamed it on being understuffed. Some damp , carpet a bit marked, bathroom was setup for wheelchair assist (?). No activities for older children Very limited TV channels Sport channels in rooms not good reception. Entertainer /music finished very early.everyone in lounge was in party mood on the 8th. Wifi didn't work during our 4 days stay, dirty carpets in the room, mediocre staff, tiny bath. Towels were too small. Food wasn't the greatest. That they could not fulfil my request. At time of bookings and it on the confirmation for extra large double bed. All I was told they will get back to which they never had the decency to do it. I had to go to reception 5times and the told they have to cancel booking and re-book at extra costs. The attitude seems that you booked via Bookings.com so it is not our problem. This was disappointing and it has to be in my reviews. Carpets in the public areas were badly marked and appeared dirty, chandeliers were dusty and the general smell was unappealingly musty. The rooms themselves were clean. rooms are dated and ill maintained. The room we were booked into was very cold and airconditioner difficult to figure out. Although the sleeper couch was made up for our son I had to ask for an extra towel on both days. The restaurant was not very inviting and also cold. This was expensive accommadation without brealfast. Distance to beach Hot water in shower did not work Perhaps more activities for children. The room. There was dampness on the walls. Carpets were wet had to view other rooms in order to select a bit more comfortable one. Terrible odour in the room. Noiseness from other guests who had kids there. The card to unlock our room didnot work and we had to run between the room and the reception 3 times in the pouring rain before a staff member helped us. You could not get a pack of crisps Evening meal very repetive Ran out of lemons for a G&T Food very poor Not enough if you don't eat meat. This is NOT a boutique hotel. It is a family hotel and it caters to family primarily. They should market themselves properly. Food was very average. Not enough entertainment for kids. Our hotel room - we had no bath towels and were given a paraplegic room. Unresponsive staff. Didnt include breakfast, family room was nice, booked honeymoon suite for the saturday night (courtis), only difference was a big lounge and bed, no special touches for the price and a honeymoon suite. Black waitresses were wonderful but young white waitress sulky and shouldnt be working in a restaurant. The cleaning ladies made it known in manner and attitude that they we not happy not to clean at their time. The omelette was hard and very oily the breakfast used to be great.
