I loved this hotel. I stayed here primarily because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. Even before I got there, the staff was amazing - very responsive to emails, both clearly instructing me what to do when I arrived for airport pickup and also assisting me with putting together a program of sightseeing during my 18 hours on the ground. We must have gone back and forth a dozen times, and they answered every question and had everything all arranged exactly. Airport pickup was just as des.
all reviews » The Staff were the best from the drivers, office staff cleaners and the kitchen staff. They became like family and I was sorry to have to say goodbye. The food - especially breakfasts were delicious filling and nutritious. Actually have not a single complaint. So appreciative of the wifi connection too. If I ever am back that way I will stay there again. It was so nice to have no unpleasant surprises in that what was shown on the Internet was exactly how it was on the ground. A lovely plac. We booked this hotel for an overnight stay, as they were 10mins down the road from the airport, before catching another flight the following morning. I was very impressed with the rooms which were very comfortable, clean, spacious and nicely decorated. A special mention needs to be said for the staff who were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was tasty and I was impressed that the lodge did a BBQ in the evenings for those that were too tired to venture out. I will definitely come back. We were collected from the airport at 10:00 p.m. by their very courteous and efficient shuttle driver within a few minutes of making our phone call and we were very pleased with our lovely room and very good breakfast the next morning. We were just very disappointed that our onward flight was brought forward to early morning which meant that we could not spend some time in the lovely garden near the pool and lapa. We would definitely highly recommend this establishment and will stay there aga. The room was large enough for a family, the bathroom had a shower and bath. The bed was ridiculously comfortable, just what we needed after a long day of flying. The location is close to the airport, the transfer service is reliable, the staff are friendly and helpful. The honesty bar, complimentary coffee/tea, swimming pool and green lawn were such a welcome bonus. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room had ample space, was clean, and well furbished, not tired and jaded. Due to a screen of garden plants you were not at all aware of being in a noisy city or busy urban area. It was homely. The wake-up call was reliable, and the honesty bar was a refreshing surprise - long time since I last saw one. Friendly service from everyone (particularly the 2 drivers & reception girl). The staff are friendly and welcoming, the airport transfer is hassle-free and prompt and the Wednesday night bbq was absolutely delicious. The hotel transfer service is perfect (fast and , its staff is very friendky, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and homely. Where do you find an "honesty bar" nowadays?. We were 2 friends on the way to Zambia. Loved the very quick pick-up by shuttle, beautifully manicured garden as we entered the gate, wonderful fillet steak dinner, very friendly and helpful staff. Yes you can hear the planes but what do you expect if you are staying so close to the airport!!. There wasn't anything that we weren't happy with. The bathroom/toilet was very roomy, but only an elegantly draped white curtain separated the room from the large opening to the bathroom with the toilet. Not my personal favourite, even if I was travelling with my husband. Nothing at all. For my purposes (i.e. transit), it was more than perfect. The place was definitely nice and comfortable enough to stay longer, but I don't know where it is situated in relation to area attractions, so may or may not be ideal for longer stays. Pool water was freezing. Pity. Lock on the door of our room was very old - not functionning properly. It would be good if they put french doors between the bathroom and bedroom in my room (14). Shower door did not close properly and resulted in a wet floor afterwords.(my room was number 3) this is only reported as I feel that this can be rectified. We would have liked a longer stay!. Nothing. Threre is truly nothing that I didn't really like. No AC., pool was not clean, tap on the bath tub was not working but the shower was fine. There was nothing I did not like about this place. Being close to the airport was a convenience for us, but also meant some noise from planes taking off (though it didn't disturb our sleep). Nothing. Courtesy shuttle driver was driving too fast and rather slightly recklessly. I would not stay in Kemptown Park if I was not needing proximity to the airport. This is no criticism of the hotel but the location is not ideal for the general visitor to Johannesburg. Let me think about it...... The hotel is across r21 at the end of the runway, you should like to listen to AirBus A380's takeoff but it didn't bother me a bit. Close to the airport so expect aircraft noise until all goes quiet for the night!. Some noise from planes as is it is close to the airport but the noise is not too severe and was ok at night. The advertised braai. Couldn´t leave the hotel, because the staff told us it wouldn´t be safe for us to walk around. A shuttle to the nearest mall would have been ZAR100 one way, which seemed too much to us. So we cannot say anything about the area. My second stay was at short notice due to missing my International flight caused by SAA. The room offered, nr 3 did not provide the same standard compared to my first stay. The old TV in my room. Limited vegetarian options at dinner. Not in a super safe area - cant venture out alone at nite. No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. No shower, only a bath in the room I stayed in (No. 10). Not a good choice for long stays, unless you rent a car, or want to book their excellent daily tour options. For one day, with airport transport, it was ideal. Reception closed from 9pm although there is access to an honesty bar but property quite dark and could be kind of scary for solo traveller arriving late. No food available at that time. nothing not to like. Nothing. Nothing I didn't like.
