The staff was very friendly and really did their best to make us feel welcome. This lodge is really good value for money and if you take the option with breakfast and dinner it is lovely not having to cook. We stayed in the luxury tent, it had its own bathroom, just make sure, some of the tents have a bathroom outside the tent. The tents are decorated nicely and is comfortable. They acoomodated our kids with a cot and a small bed, and the kitchen was also friendly in bringing smaller portions e.
all reviews » We arrived at Sabie in the late afternoon and were greeted by friendly and happy staff yet so professional they made us feel at home and safe..The morning trip to Kruger where excellent our Guide Patrick was so knowledgeable and explained the animals and their behaviour were....the Staff at the Sabie were as well second to none ...everyone appeared to be happy to be of service , they would come and chat with us and were always around to ask if all is well ...and in addition the Manager Stuart t. The river frontage and viewing platforms give the lodge great character. The staff are helpful. It is a stone's throw from Kruger National Park Kruger gate. It has good self catering facilities for those choosing to stay in the luxury tents which are a wonderful experience compared to a normal two person tent! You stay dry in the rain and they are very airy. The lodges are also well maintained and the bathrooms kept spotlessly clean. The lodge has quite a good restaurant if you want to eat i. Nice hotel situated just at the Kruger Park border and the Sabie river. Great views. There were 5 hippo's in the river during our 3 days stay. At the last day we saw also a group of elephants at the river. The neighbourhood is quiet so you can relax just laying on the deckchair. The staff was very helpful and kind - especially the 2 security guys who where working during the day! You will get your car cleaned every morning for free which is good after visiting the Kruger Park. To the Kruger Gat. Very nice property, just what I would expect from a Bush Lodge. Dinning room was on an open elevated platform so you were dining in a feeling of openness overlooking the river, magical. Food was simple but good with a choice of 2 dishes each evening. Good and inexpensive wines served by very friendly and willing staff. We even had our car washed before leaving, how about that for customer service. I recommend the morning park tour arranged by the lodge, good value and you see so much more than . First of all: the staff is the BEST! Super friendly, attentive and helpful. It was by far the best experience we've had in South Africa. The tent is beautiful, super clean and it is no problem at all to share a toilet. Everything is super clean, as well as your private shower. Beautiful swimmingpool, breathtaking view and everything is beautifully decorated. Breakfast is amazing and the dinner is super as well! A++++ accomodation, would highly reccomend to everyone! They even washed our car bef. What a pleasant surprise - Sabie River is a three star lodge that gives you five star service! All the staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. The lodge is situated on the river so it is not unusual to see big game. This is an ideal place to stay for those who are looking for a relaxing break with a bush feel - I would highly recommend making your next Lowveld booking with them. We could sit in the dining room to look over the river, could see only hippo unfortunately but might see many elephants, buffalos, rhinos of Kruger N.P. They have very good chefs. I had soup for 2 evenings, were excellent! Here in Switzerland, hardly have such a tasty soup.nice dishes , freshly baked bread, scon, muffin. Going to Kruger N.P is so easy. Just driving on the main road about 14 km. We have booked one of the tents and we were amazed how clean and comfortable it was. We shared toilet and shower but that was really no problem at all, all facilities were extremelly clean. Staff was great, very helpful and indeed they do wash your car. We loved our veranda and also the common one. At night and early morning there are animals passing by, we saw buffalos and elephant. Closed to the best part of the Kruger park. Beautiful deck with a swimming pool and view to the river, you can even see animals drinking water in the evening. Comfy chairs outdoors and good pillows. Dinner included in the rate. My car was washed. It is a beautiful place, definitely going back. The welcome was very warm, friendly and genuine. Staff took pride in remembering guests and their requirements. Nothing was too much trouble and every request was carried out with a smile. Food was of a high standard and varied. Highly recommended both for a fantastic stay and value for money. I have booked and stayed at the lodge on numerous occasions both personally and for clients. The price/quality ratio is excellent and I will continue to send people there from our tour company. The viewing deck is outstanding. Tented accomodation was outstanding, great views of wildlife and Kruger Parck directly across the river from the camp, esp from the pool and deck. Staff very friendly and helpful, will definitely be looking to head back again. Everybody is very friendly and it is an awesome place. We loved the safari tent and the fact that you've got your own shower and kitchen. The food at the restaurant were divine. We will make another booking next year. The lodge is located right next to the road, and from the luxury tents you hear the noise from the road. But for the price you pay, you must compromise on something! This is not a five star lodge, just manage your expectations. The food is also not 5 star, but good. The swimming pool is clean, but not in a good condition. The weather - was raining most of the time , but this did not change the quality and experience we had. Quite far away from the city (Hazyview) and normal shops - you have to drive more than 20 min to get there. The swimmingpool was quite clean but it needs a renovation. The rooms and the bathrooms could be a little better. Having to leave after 3 days. Bathroom could be better, but is not the worst. Dinner main dish was not that good. Not much for distracting kids. a playground would help. Game drive too expensive, better drive yourself through the park, or even get an excursion at the park gate. I paid 1.650 Rands at the lodge for 3 people and for the same people at the gate it 150 Rands. The fact that we couldn't spend another day or two in natures wonderland at River Lodge. Limited choice of meals, no vegetarian option, but well cooked. Coming home. the room was supposed to be with river view but it had only a narrow tall window with bars outside, you could barely see the river when you get close. Choose room number 1, it;s the same price and so much better. A little too far from town (Hazyview) which wasn't explained. Would have liked a TV in the room but as there were 2 in the open areas it was not a problem. We booked 2 luxury river tents, but our son and his partner had to move to room with no river view because the electic was not working. This was ok but we were not offered any refund on the accomodation. I think this was wrong as the room was cheaper. Load music from a bar or shabeen close by. Consider putting a larger wardrobe in the tents, especially for hanging clothes. Nothing. Small pitfall is we reported two small problems on day two and was not attended to by the time we left. Matras was very hard. Didn't sleep well. Shower outside tent, common toilets. No bar fridge in room. No television in rooms. the basin was abit to small. Staff a bit indifferent. Though we saw animal the game drive with entertaining guide was rushed. Having a back room, with no view. A little bit noisy from the kitchen and passage. Meal, Saturday evening, chicken was still raw. Nothing really major. we stayed in room number four,no view except for the' staff only enterance',machine noise factor not good at all was on-off all night,shower door fell on top of me,reported the door to the acting manager he never even asked me was I alright!!!,on departure day no machine for me to make credit card payment. Small pool, small rooms (the tents a great), very basic bathroom. Rooms and deck are quite worn. To close to the road, and local spaza shop music to noisy. Accommodation / room very old. Not the venue if u're looking for a quiet and relaxing weekend.
