Customised safaris can be arranged to Addo Elephant Park, 3 km away and home to rhino, buffalo, lions and leopards. The Elephants Footprint restaurant serves a continental or full English breakfast. The á la carte lunch and dinner menu offers fish and game specialities and is occasionally buffet-style. Set 1.5 km from Colchester and the N2 road, Elephants Footprint is a 10-minute drive from the beach by the Sundays River mouth. The guest rooms have the wow factor - thatched high ceilings, loads of space, outside shower as well as an indoor one, lounge space. Evening meals fine. The lodge is perfectly placed -just 5 minutes drive from the south gate. It's possible to go in at 0700, do a couple of the circuits, then return to the lodge for a late breakfast, before going back into the park for the day. If you're going to Addo this place is ideal and the hosts Isabelle and Christoff are most obliging.
