We liked the friendliness of the staff. We stayed the first two days and
the last two days of our trip to South Africa and we were upgraded to a
suite which was very much appreciated...we had stayed in the hotel five
years ago and it was exactly as I remembered it and we will definitely

The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful, always smiling, and solicitous without being in your face. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choices and value for money; use of the business centre at no extra cost was a godsend - see wi-fi
The entrance/lobby very spacious and felt homely. I would definitely stay at the Portswood again.
Excellent reception, good room with turn down service etc, excellent breakfast and very easy cheap parking immediately under hotel. 2 minutes from Waterfront attractions. Thoroughly recommended.
You can't beat their friendly staff...wonderful! Being able to walk to the waterfront was a great advantage, if the weather had cooperated. Summer would be a wonderful walk.

The Location of the Hotel was perfect.. Close to Waterfront and stadium.. Clean and neat..

Though free wi-fi was offered I was not able to logon once, even though system was reset several times. Free wi-fi everywhere was the deciding factor in chosing this hotel and so was very disappointed when it didn't pay off. The business centre saved the day.

The room was very small and a bit crowded with furniture. Barely enough room for two people. One person would be okay. View was of the street and a medical building. We needed to spend time in the room, so that did not work well.
A bit out-dated.
Make sure you request a room that isn't on the roadside as it gets very noisy.
The bathrooms need upgrading. We were shocked to see the price of your wines. The same bottle in other five star Hotels was on average R160.00 R75,00 in bottle stores and in Portswood same bottle was R320.00 unacceptable...

We were disgusted with the smelly and stuffy SMALL room provided for us on arrival. Paying top dollar for something like that are ridiculous. We have booked 7 months in advance and could not get a upgrade on our room.Staff friendliness at reception for asking for a better room was ab-runt.

- Follow the road and signs towards the N2 motorway / Cape Town.
- Follow the N2, signposted Eastern Blvd, towards Cape Town.
- Keep following the N2 towards Cape Town. The highway will split, so keep to your right, following the signs: M6 Seapoint/ Waterfront towards Cape Town.
- When entering Cape Town, cross over the first set of traffic lights. Keep in the right-hand lane.
- Turn right at the 2nd traffic lights, signposted Sea Point.
- Follow the road over the bridge. Turn right at the first traffic light into Portswood Road.
- Follow the road almost to the end. The Portswood Hotel will be located on your right-hand side.
