The backpack was a really comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The common areas were laid back & relaxed and the place was very clean. Location was great & just a short walk from the top of Long Street and some good restaurants. Waterfront was a decent walk or a fairly quick taxi ride. We stayed here based in recomendations & were very hsppy. Compared to some friends who were staying at numerous backpackers in and around Long Street, this sounded superior & I would definitel.
all reviews » It was my second time at this hostel and I came back three years later because I liked it. Apart from it being excellent for what is officially a backpackers place I really appreciate the attitude of owners and staff who are supporting community projects and take recycling seriously, something that is still not very wide spread in South Africa. Excellent Sandwiches and breakfast. The staff were amazing, they were really helpful and lovely and really fun they all take time to get to know you. The view was amazing table mountain is beautiful and the rooms were really nice and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend The Backpack to anyone and everyone it was also really good value for money. I highly recommend This backpacker. I had the best time ever in Cape Town. The staff is more than friendly and make u feel at home (special greetings for Lucas, Lisa and Sino). The facilities are great and they are helpfull and handy with all the available activities in the city. Lovely!. Best hostel I have ever stayed in! Defo a 10 out of 10. Great value for money !!. Quite a hike from the Waterfront, but this was not really a problem for us as I think he location was quite good and convenient for most things. Free wifi only works in the common area and is a bit slow, I guess because too many people are using it at the same time. Otherwise there is not much to complain about. Wifi only works in common areas. Not a major problem but I know sometimes it's easier if it works in the dorms. Otherwise no complaints!. Breakfast service was really bad and it was expensive!. The manager wasn't at all flexible with the cancellation policy, when she could easily have been. The only negative thing is there is not a free public access computer (you have to pay for it).Otherwise, it's perfect!. 900 rand per night. Slow wifi or non working wifi. No lock provided for safe storage. quite loud in the room. Too much noise. WIFI is only avaibable in lobby but sometimes does not work. Car park is not free as mentioned. The security blocked a parking space and led us to park. Then ask for payment of R20. Wonder if other parking space the same. Self-laudry is only available from 1100 to 1900. Inconvenient.
