What we like most is the room. It is spacious and homey. The location of the hotel is very accessible and excellent, as the bus stops in front of the hotel and few minutes walk to nearby mall. I will still choose the same hotel in our succeeding stay in Singapore. I could not fault the hotel, its staff, location or price. The hotel has all of the facilities that you will need. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and kept very clean. It is less that 5 minutes walk to the nearest MRT station.

However, the breakfast was fantastic, the service was very good and the location was perfect. I have stayed in about 6 or 7 different hotels in Singapore and the value for money that you get with Hotel Royal is by far the most impressive in my experience. The location at Newton was good, the facilities were comfortable and appropriate, was certainly value for money, the room was spacious, service curt. Amenities in room were sufficient and in general, adequate.Pool, friendly helpful staff. Extended hours of stay. Total relaxation. all our need were met- staff particularly were very helpful. The room is spacious and clean. location. The staff were very good and assisted us with any questions we asked. Rooms were comfortable and value for money. Remember, tourists take impressions of the whole country from the minimal interaction with people.Need to thorougly clean the room- ie there are webs on the wall at the lift lobby. Room tables are not thoroughly cleaned without watermarks. Bed sheets and pillow are found with blood stain. But for the price and location of the hotel, overall it's still a pretty good time. We have asked for late check out. The front desk staff said ok but it turned out that we are not able to get into the room after 12:00noon. The staff cashier told me she was not been informed of such late check-out arrangement. We were a bit surprise about such service.Having to pay for internet on an hourly basis, if one needed to check email it cost a minimum of S$8.40. Wifi service would make me return to hotel on a regular basis. Chairs in the room are very uncomfortable.It could be a one-off incident, whereby there was no staff at the concierge when we checked out. Just a little flaw to our pleasant stay at the hotel. Unfriendly staff at restaurant - not wanting to give us the menu to look at, so we were put off eating there. Dirty counterpane which we asked to have renewed when we first saw the room. Quickly replaced though. Also they originally told us that there was only a twin room, when we'd specifically booked a double! Had to argue and wait a little for another room to be found.The staff was bad for me... not already the room for me at 2:30pm... the frount staff was explain not clearly about the price and request me not nice!. 1) No life guard available near/for swimming pool. 2) No change in menu for breakfast. No South Indian dish although many Indians stay there particularly from south India.Room could be updated, just a coat of paint here and there. Rooms always tidied well. Amenities and facilities such as the pool and gym, lobby, did not seem to fit a 4 star hotel. restaurant and the noise from the some wear like drams or music. I guess its about time they replace the room carpet. whenever the aircon is not running, the musty-like smell is quite pronounce. Unfriendly staffs service. The hotel is not my expectation. Rooms a bit run down. Uncomfortable easychairs in our room. Staff is rude.It is tired and dowdy and at the lower end of value for money. I would not stay there again. No infomration available in rooms about guest services. The pictures and info of the hotel given on the web site were misleading.The hotel and its rooms were not like they were shown as. Verydisappointing. The hotel desperately needs to be renovated.The Hotel was not very clean and looked outdated. For few dollarsmore there are much better hotels available in Singapore. Not at alla 4 stars... clearance, staff kindness.
