The hotel is tastefully decorated - from the exterior to the designer fusnished lobby, to the rooms with hi tech gear and a bathroom that will make you go "wow". The hotel makes its guests feel very welcome and encouraged people to hang out in the lobby or nearby patio in different hours of the day with its Nespresso coffee and chocolate cookies (which my son loved!) and cocktails with wine and canapes at 6. all reviews » The whole experience was one of 100% satisfaction. The property its grounds and all of the facilities were 1st class. No it is not on one of the main shopping streets but it is just a short walk to Orchard road and one of the best mrt underground stations (a major intersection of 4 different lines) in Singapore. To have the vibrant city of Singapore at your feet combined with the tranquility and luxury of the Fort Canning was the perfect combination for us. 5* Hotel but not pretentious. Pool Gy. We had a wonderful time with the hotel. Very homely and full of greenery admits hustle and bustle city. Excellent breakfast as well. More than anything very friendly and helpful staff including the owner and the restaurant manager. Its has a five-star rating with affordable price. Its just a 5 minutes walk to Orchard Street. Very convenient and homely place.It was an unforgettable hospitality extended to us by this hotel. We will definitely visit the hotel again if we happen to be in Singapore. We struck gold with this hotel. We were travelling with our eight year old daughter and they were able to accommodate her on a trundle bed in the extended living area of a King Sized room. Nothing was too much trouble from the staff. Exceptionally professional and friendly. Facilities were fantastic and to be immersed in the garden environment of the Fort Canning Parkland was superb - and only minutes from the CBD. The history of the building, only newly converted to a hotel, added to its charm. Hotel Fort Canning is a luxury resort and is like a quiet oasis in Singapore. We stayed there after a busy 5 week trip to Europe and were happy to just relax. We were able to get an early check in after a long flight, which was great. Rooms are very comfortable and high tech within a colonial style building. Staff are very friendly and helpful without being patronising. Restaurants are lovely and the buffet breakfasts were delicious. Taxis are cheap if you want to shop or eat in the main part o. Wonderful setting in beautiful gardens. Reception staff and Restaurant Manager charming and helpful. My room was very pleasant with a very comfortable bed. The huge bath was in the main bedroom which looked very glamorous and was lovely as I was on my own. There is in addition a shower room and toilet. Restaurant served extremely good food and I enjoyed the one lunch I had in the Italian. Extremely attentive staff. Both Pools lovely and in a gorgeous setting.This hotel was a delight, stunning setting, bathed in history, quiet, great service, great location, excellent rooms full of character and nothing lacking. Great to be able to walk around park. Beautiful building. Great pool area like a resort in the middle of Singapore. Would love to go back and stay longer. They kept our bags after check out and offered us a shower before we left for airport later in day. So thoughtful and very impressed. Setting in the heart of Singapore yet low rise and beautiful rain forest planting. Peaceful after a day sightseeing and shopping etc. welcoming excellent quality teas and coffees unlimited. I had came across few good comments & recommendations from friends with regards to their stay in HFC, where I decided to try it out on my wife's birthday (15-16 Feb'13). I'm very impressed with the design + feel of the hotel room & the excellent service of your counter staffs throughout our stay which made it an enjoyable one. Would definitely re-visit again & recommend HFC to my friends & relatives. HFC is an oasis of rest in a bustling city. Great location...quiet but still fairly close to the 'action'. Courteous, friendly, helpful and professional staff at all levels. Two lovely pools...'undersold' on the website. Decor is tasteful throughout. Rooms are a good size and well equipped. 6-8 pm free drinks for guests are a good idea. I stayed in April on business. The Staff at reception were quick, my checkout time was extended until 1pm for free. Breakfast was included and buffet was good, the man cooking omlettes was very keen to make them. Room was good size with desk for working. Position is secluded in Fort Canning with no traffic noise. First impressions were the doormen. Very friendly, polite. Next reception, polite, professional. Pleasant and quiet escape from the Singapore rat-race yet only a short walk to the main MRT interchange. HFC is such a great hotel. Located next to a park in in the center of the city although really quiet. The staff is amazing, were extremely helpful with all my requests. The excellent location and the proximity to Fort Canning Park is very appealing. It's a stylish and well designed boutique hotel; ideal hotel for leisure travel. The Italian restaurant, Gattopardo, is excellent too but I'm told it will not be located at the hotel for much longer. All aspects of our 6 night stay were memorable. staff were exceptional, rooms spacious and hi-tech, breakfast had variety with an Asian twist (loved the fish porridge) and the pool great. Location on 3-line MRT station makes access to the island easy. We will return. The hotel is situated in a big park with beautiful old trees and within 10 minutes walking you are on Orchard Road. A warning I guess rather than something I didn't like - It can be quite an exercise going back if you do venture out as the hotel sits on a hill. The places to eat also seem to be a bit off from the main hotel. There was also a delay in the delivery of towels which put off bath time by a few hours so we just stayed in bed longer - which can also be a good thing. The room cleaners left a bit to be desired. My particular room was noisy but I was unlucky to have a young party in the adjoining room. I don't think there was a problem with the other rooms.This was such an excellent place to stay it is a shame that the beautiful bathroom , which is a very special space, had black mould in the corners and bottom of shower. This should not put anyone off but such a shame not to just clean this as it is the only thing that lets this stunning bathroom down. Only one small thing would have been great information to have been given by hotel that if you leave the hotel by the road it is an easier walk into Museum and Clark Quay plus the museum is an excellent way to access the town riding down on the escalators and it is free to pass through. Internet service on the TV has been quite an unpleasant experience (very slow & non reactive). Not a 'don't like', but a suggestion. If the pools ever get busy (which they didn't during our 4 day stay), some extra loungers would be essential. Position is secluded - a little wait for taxis sometimes. Air conditioning in my room, 339, was noisy and came on and off rather than flowing constantly - had to switch off when sleeping which is strange in Singapore, home of aircon. One thing only. The iron! When you filled with water, it poured all over my clothes. This was due to the fact that the water spout had no lid to stop this from happening. Room air-conditioning was too noisy. The fact that the hotel does not control the lobby bar or the 'in-house' restaurant is confusing, and the Glass House, while providing acceptable quality meals, does not fit the style of the rest of the hotel and, anyway, is a short external walk from the lobby. The garden room, while it looks good, is not especially practical. There is no bathroom as such with small glass cubicles for the toilet and the shower stall. The bath tub sits awkwardly in the middle of the room as does the wash basin. There is no proper desk for working so not a great proposition for business travel. Air-conditioner was very noisy. There was a misunderstanding about our booking, so there was no bed for our third child; although I had requested that upfront. It took quite some time to figure that out, but the staff did a good job in finding a solution. The only issue was the early and sporadic closure of the bar area. One evening there was a corporate event on and residents were very mush second class. Leaving!. Room ac a bit noisy. - cannot think of any negative experience. Instructions to the mrt were insufficient and we got lost first time. Would have been nice for a free shuttle to Orchard Rd (as we have had with other hotels). Breakfast was not up to the standard and choice we had at other similar standard accommodation. Nothing. Slightly out of main thoroughfare - but close enough to walk & the separation is actually its charm!!. The management does not appear to understand the essence of running a five star hotel, which is an obsessive attention to detail. The small details are the ones that sink the experience. Airconditioning duct exit velocity into room is too high so even at low speed it is too noisy for light sleepers, I measured the noise level at 45dBa with the iPhone spl app, well above accepted standards, hotel staff were unresponsive to this issue. housekeeping "just didnt get it" could improve. Distance to the metro stations. Lack of balcony in the room. Walking up to the hotel from MRT-station was not so convenient - at least with the bag. The only criticism we would make is the lack of attention to detail of the room cleaning staff who were inconsistent when dressing the room. They need a quality control checker to ensure the hotel's high quality is not spoiled by the detail. Poor Breakfirst and Service Carelessness. Three years after the Opening in 2010 some Refurbishing is necessary due to high humnidity Climate. No ATMs around and the nearest shopping centre is plaza singapura. It's quite a walk up the stairs and down and the hotel in near the top of fort canning park. Remember to bring sufficient amount of money if u are not using credit card for payment. Not enough attention had been paid to the details entered in the letsbookhotel.com reservation which resulted in a few anxious moments. The route from metro to hotel is not direct and involves walking up slope and many steps. Regular shuttle at half hourly interval to metro station should be provided. Some staff were not very helpful. There was a rude weekend maitre d' t breakfast, and two poolside staff were unable to tell me where towels were, and failed to offer to fetch a towel!. Distant from restaurants..usually 15 min walk. Wireless is not strong in all rooms. Check-in & check-out process is rather long as compared to other hotels. Not allowed to keep key card as momento. Late check-out not allowed with excuse of full reservation for that day. However, we were offered to extend our stay with a charge. So full reservation?. One of the dental kit was opened, and missing the toothpaste. During the booking process, there was a error with regards to my credit card. For whatever reason, Hotel Fort Canning said that they are not holding the amount in my account, but when I check with the bank, they informed with that the hotel was indeed holding on to the money. It was all very confusing, and even though it got cleared out in the end, I still felt that it was not handled properly. I bought discount pack of rasberry from supermarket and founded half of them was rotten. Some guests after party late in the night made a loud noise along walk way. That spme of the cleaning peaple did not come to clean are room they would not clean evry thing. Did not particularly like the openness of our room (201) - felt like goldfish being looked at by people using the pool. If we had been staying longer would have asked to change room.
