  From the reviews I read that room is small and without window. I was expecting to turn out that way but the rooms that I get is with window and one of them is quite big. With mini fridge, big tv and dvd player. Initially after reservation I have regretted for staying 2 nights but turned out the hotel is out of my expectation.   Stayed as a single person in a double room with a balcony overlooking the street. I really liked the balcony and did not find the street particularly noisy. I liked the early bells from the Indian temple. Close to Chinatown but far enough away from Pagoda Street to not be crowded. The wonderful Tong Ah restaurant is just up the road.   As a young single female traveler I found Hotel 81 was in a great location to be able to travel around Singapore. 10 minutes walk to the MRT station and really easy to find. The staff are friendly and if I needed any help they were always accommodating. The room was perfect for what I needed which was just somewhere comfy to sleep. All in all ... what people say » was a very good experience and would definitely recommend. - The staff were excellent except one. The receptionists were nice and guided me to places in Singapore. They gave me an option to change my room. On the last minute one I saw for the first time helped me to put my bag in Taxi. The cleanliness was excellent.

  I experienced a high standard of customer service from every member of the Scarlet team which I came into contact with. The hotel itself has a great ambience and the location is very convenient for dining, entertainment and transport. - I'll never forget this hotel! excellent stay, good location near chinatown!   I simply love the unique designs and though it's a small area, it is utilised to the fullest and makes one feel cozy and comfy.It's the first time that I booked the place. The bathroom facilities with its rain shower and glass windows make it very unusual and it stands out from the rest of the hotels bathrooms which I have seen. Hotel staff was very attentive to all your needs, very polite. Hotel was in close walking distance to the Metro (if you can stand the heat and humidity). There are restaurants next to the hotel serving local cuisine - tried one of them and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel has also a restaurant but didn't get a chance to dine there.

  Good value for money. Great location in Chinatown. Plenty of souvenir shops and restaurants with affordable price nearby. WiFi connection is good. Room is clean, air conditioner works well. But, don't forget to bring your own toiletries. - hotel was good , good location , value for money , staff are very helpfull .
