Arriving by plane
Most foreign travelers arrive in Moscow by plane at two major international airports: Sheremetyevo Airport-Terminal 2 (27 km) and Domodedevo International Airport (DME). Most flights to desinations within Russia and CIS countries are served by Moscow's other airports: Vnukovo Airport (VKO), Sheremetyevo Terminal 1 (SVO), Bykovo Airport (BKA)

Arriving by train
Moscow has eight major train stations. All are served by the Moscow Metro and located near the center of the city. Taxis are readily available outside most stations but beware they may be expensive. If you're on an international train, you'll go through customs when you cross the border, not at the station.

Belorussky Station: Located 500 m away from the Sheraton Palace Hotel; serves Kalliningrad, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and some trains to Latvia.
Kazansky Station: serves Central Asia, Ryzan, Ufa, Samara and Novorossiisk.
Kievsky Station: serves Western Ukraine and Southeastern Europe.
Kursky Station: serves Southern Russia, Caucasus nations, Eastern Ukraine, and Crimea.
Oktyabrsky (Leningradsky) Station: serves Estonia, Finland, St. Petersburg and northwestern Russia.
Paveletsky Station: serves Voronezh, Tambov, Volgograd and Astrakhan.
Rizhsky Station: serves some trains to Latvia.
Savyolovsky Station: serves Kostroma, Cherepovets and some trains to Vologda.
Yaroslavlsky Station: serves Siberia, the Russian Far East, Mongolia and China.

Moscow - Saint Petersburg Trains
Trains are popular with foreigners shuttling between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The "Red Arrow" and "Aurora" are the most recommended.

Getting around
Moscow has a well-developed public transportation system including buses, trams, trolleybuses, taxi and the metro, though recently like in other big cities the traffic jams are a common things during the weekdays. In contrary, on weekends getting around Moscow can be a real pleasure.

Ground Transportation
Operates from 6am till midnight. Tickets are available from the kiosks at the stops or can be obtained right in the vehicle from conductor or driver. One single-way ticket costs 17 Rubles.

Underground/Metro
Currently over 170 stations forming 11 lines are operatin with 54 line transfers. The metro operates from 5:35am till 1am, line transfers close down at 1am. The metro tickets (17 Rubles per trip regardless of distance) are available at all metro stations. You may also purchase the multy-trip tickets giving a small progressive discount.

Taxi
Taxi cabs can be recognized by the checked strip on the car door or the highlighted sign "T" on the roof. It is advisable to book a taxi by telephone or via hotel concierge desk. If you pick a taxi on the street, be sure you choose one from a licensed company and agree the price before you take it. A taxi ride within the city center should not cost you more then 300-350 Rubles, a trip to the airport - around 1100-1200 Rubles. The driver will give you a receipt only on demand.
