The location of the hotel was superb, five minutes from the centre of the old town and lots of bars and restaurants, five minutes from a very large and modern shopping centre, and walking distance from the vibrant jewish quarter. great location for the departure of the tours to auswich and the salt mines and a very good traditional polish restaurant two doors down. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff helpful when required and very good value for money.

Separate living room and bedroom and our own balcony with an excellent view. The staff spoke flawless English and were very accommodating. The selection at breakfast was very good, as long as you don't expect to go to Poland and get a full English. The location is excellent.The hotel was idally situation for touring the city, only one block from the St Florian's Gate which leads to the Market Square. It was our wedding anniversary and my daughter arranged a bottle of champagne to be delivered to our room on arrival which made it special. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a suite, which was roomy and the bathroom was very large and modern. Location within krakow was excellent for visiting the city attractions,the staff were very polite, the hotel was very clean and of a goodstandard. The breakfast was continental with also scrambled egg andsausage and was plentiful and well presented in a lovely breakfast roomwhich also had a small bar for drinks and became a restuarant at night.This hotel overall was excellent value for money.We were in Krakow for a wedding. Compared to what our friends got for the money at their hotels, we really made an excellent choice with Hotel Matejko. Excellent location close to everything, good service and a nice room. I would recommend the hotel to friends but would also mention not to use the restaurant. Bar facilities were available but no atmosphere. bar shut to early. The dining room doubled as the bar and as a bar, lacked atmosphere. only that there was no kettle in the room. Wirelles internet not accessible for all rooms. Twin rooms were booked, however at least 2 of my party had a double bed with a pull out cot. bed could have been more comfey. ordered room service but though it said on the welcome note they served food and drink till 9pm, we were not able to order food due to staffing shortage.Parking is big problem. We were disappointed that we were not able to use the sauna for a 2nd day because the hotel book out the room that it is attatched to because it is a twin room suite. We were also a little surprised to find out that it costs 56 Zloty (about £14 GBP) for the privilege as this was not mentioned on the web site.
