Our family stayed at Orquidea Real Mid March and had a fabulous experience. The hotel is IDEALLY situated about 3 blocks walking (only one street over) from Plaza de Armas and quite close to San Blas. The staff were beyond hospitable and always smiling and helpful. I had about 15 hours of altitude sickness (couldnt move) and they brought up cocoa tea and even brought breakfast to the room for my family (I couldnt eat). They were so helpful from recommendations and directions to everything! The . all reviews »
The hostel is in good location, however, it's located on a hill, there are about 30 steps to get to the hostel, then our room was on 2nd floor. So each time we go out and back, we had to climb about 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. We were ok but just wanted to note this for people who might have issue with high altitude or not in the best shape while on their trip. The other minor issue is, we asked if they can make a call for us to arranged a taxi and they said there is a charge of .
The hostel is very rustic, but outfitted with excellent facilities like a huge, warm shower, and beds with luscious down-comforters. Cuzco gives the overall impression of being quite remote, but the wifi was great, the staff extremely accommodating, the free breakfast was simple, but nice and the location of the hostel was central to the historic part of town. I especially appreciated the electric heater in the room to toast up to before climbing into the very ample king(plus) bed.
Wonderful complimentary breakfast, friendly staff, nice views of the mountains from the breakfast area, heater was provided in the room, charming hostal located a bit away from the more crowded tourist center but within walking distance.
great location, great staff, very clean.
Clean, friendly, close to everything.
This hostel is in a great location, just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas. The rooms are cozy and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is tasty. You can receive international calls in your room.
Very quaint, picturesque little hotel in a great location, just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. In general, I would have highly recommended it except for the check out policy.
The only access to the hostel is up a hefty flight of stone steps. After we had hiked all day at Machu Picchu, coming home that night and the next nearly killed us!.
Situated on a stairwell, hard o find.
The shower is mostly hot, but sometimes changes temperature to very hot or cold suddenly. The fireplaces in the rooms were not functional when we visited. They gave us a space heater on our second night, but they don't have enough for all the rooms, so we were just cold our first night. The breakfast room is freezing! No heat and they leave the door open to the outside, so the servers can come and go from the kitchen, which is off of a courtyard.
check out at 8:30am. This is ridiculous, particularly as we had travelled extensively and finally had a day to sleep in before a flight back to Lima. We inquired about the check-out time and were shocked to hear 8:30am. We asked if we could perhaps check out at 10:00 or 11:00, and were told we would have to pay 25% extra if we stayed beyond official check out time.
breakfast was okay, but in a very cold (all windows open in the early morning!) room.
