  It was in a perfect location, quiet but near enough to walk to all the main attractions. The hotel had a lovely ambiance, very traditional with friendly staff. Our room was perfect for us and our young daughter with lots of space and a nice extra bed. But the Hotel Gabelshus was a rare bargain. I loved the free internet, breakfast, afternoon waffles and dinner buffet and would certainly stay there again.   This is n new hotel that was opened in February. In one word it was fantastic. The quality of everything from the decor, to service detail, and food were of the finest quality. The artwork was a collected and hung in almost every corner of the hotel even in the stairwells.   Breakfast was one of the best I've ever experienced in a hotel (selection was enough for having at least 4 totally different menus - everything of a very high quality). The bathroom a the opposite of the reception could be rebuilt - Located in a nice area close to the embassy district and well serviced with trams. However, I would recommend the using the city cycle hire network for which there is a stand just across the road. You can buy a card from the tourist information to use these and it is a great way to get around Oslo. The pensjonat is very clean and decorated in a modern style with very friendly and helpful staff.
