The apartment was very cosy, spacious and well equipped. It was in a nice quiet location so perfect for some relaxation. Easy access from the train station and the main part of town. We were in Geilo for the Ice Music Festival and was within 5-10 minutes walk of the festival buses. We had an apartment as a stopover on the way to Bergen. A very comfortable and clean unit ...appeared to be privately owned but managed by the hotel. Not much to do/see in Geilo as it"s a winter resort really but fine as a stopover.
all reviews » The apartment was new and very nice. Everything was clean and we had a lot of space. Professional treatment when problem with no information about location of reception was discussed - was offered a free dinner as compensation. The apartment was really good, complete with everything needed, and the view of the ski ways and moon, makes really a special time!. Central location, staff responsive to problems (of which there were many). It was clean and had a great view over the ski fields / valley. Perfect location for skiing. Where you check in and where the apartments are are two different places. We trekked over to the hotel in the snow with heavy backpacks to check-in only to have to come back on ourselves. There was quite an expensive charge on the use of towels and bedding, so take your own if you can. You also need to buy your own toilet roll / washing up liquid etc which is a pain if you're only there for a few days like we were. These are minor gripes however and overall we were happy with our stay here. Glad we booked the apartment and not the hotel. They were building another block directly outside, and hotel had coach tours. No information when booking that there are no reception at the location (Reception is at Hotel Ustedalen some 700m further along the road). Also no information at Geilo Garden where to find reception (had to ask at another hotel). The hotel was really unclear in its description, the sister hotel was not just in the other side of the road, but a long walk up the hills, and in winter must be really bad! Besides that, everything that hotels offer is actually from its sister hotel, so not really easy to use! It was really disappointed. Apartment seemed to be very new and not quite finished. Kitchen lacking lots of basic equipment (which was gradually provided through the week). No mattresses on beds when we arrived, had to do without on first night. We were promised five bedrooms on the booking but there were only four, for which we negotiated a reduction. You had to supply your own towels and sheets. Poor signage Had to collect keys from further up the road at a hotel that was also poorly signed. Nice apartment, but poorly equipped kitchen. No micro oven, no toaster, no water kettle. Even no trays in the oven.
