This was one of the cheapest hotels we could get in Bergen which is extremely expensive. We weren't expecting a lot but were pleasantly surprised with Room 406 which overlooked the street and the old church. The entry and hallways are a little off putting but the room was pleasant, light, and clean. The bathroom old but adequate and the bed good. The staff were effecient and courteous upon check in although we did notice we were ahead of the crowd and things may not have progressed as smoothl.

Very Good location, closed to Bergen railwaystation & Buss terminal (3min), fish market & good bars and restaurants (3min), and the beautiful old Church right in front, free wifi. Coffee service at the reception was good. Easy to get to from the station and easy to walk to the town centre too. The fridge and kettle in the room enabled us to have breakfast in the room as the hotel is basic and does not provide this. Good free wi fi. Got it at a bargain price -- non-refundable. It's a pity that it's only for one night. we had to move to another hotel the next day. It's got everything except breakfast. Highly recommended. A the name suggests,it's a basic hotel. Very little help from the staff, and no real amenities. But the location is decent and 10 mins walk to the harbour. This hotel is close to the station and most things in Bergen. The name basic is an honest appraisal of what to expect. Hotel is within walking distance of train station, fish market, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and tourist bureau. The hotel was good value for money and rooms were in good condition despite the outer appearance of the building. location close to railway station since we arrived with a train and close to city center, old port. The reception area and entry are a little run down but if this means a lower cost it is not really an issue and didn't effect our stay. the price is too high like everywhere in Norway. if Breakfast service starts, it would be perfect and signal for wifi connection is very weak. The hotel only provides 2 paper cups but no tea or coffee to use or spoons. We had taken our own supplies and bought milk and pastries from a supermarket to have for breakfast. Go prepared, don't get caught out!. No breakfast, but maybe it's too much to ask at such a price. water temperature is not so comfatable, sometimes hot and sometimes cold which is hard to control. Broken coffee machine but free instant coffee was fine. It was quite dark in the room, i couldn't read. And the beds are very soft. they don't clean or change your towels everyday. No fridge. Norway is extremely expensive. Not affordable to eat out every time. A fridge would have been handy. Furnishing a little old, time to think about buying new furniture! :). No breakfast but this was expected and arrngements were made with nearby hotel. Staff is not always present at reception. New TV was not tuned and new kettle smelled plastic. elevator only to the 4th floor so we had to carry our suitcases to the 5th floor. Internet access is poor on the 5th floor - you have to get connected downstairs and then go to your room on the 5th floor (otherwise it doesn't work). Staff is nice and friendly but nor really helpful. N/a. We were put up on the 5th floor but the lift went up till the 4th floor. So the suitcases had to be dragged up. Plus there was no wifi connection in the room. The price. Hotel in need of refurbishment / repairs. 70's interior needs upgrade. Nothing. It was a fair level of accommodation for the price. Compared to the price, nothing i didnt like. It was not a luxary hotel, but was sufficient for all your needs. There is a club attached so it is very noisy at night. After the club closes people congregate outside and make a lot of noise making it difficult to sleep. Breakfast not available. Shower in bathroom designed poorly, water all over the floor. Loud music and partying long into the night, request a room at the back. We come from Starbucks country and never found a place nearby with good coffee. Refrigerator noisy. -cold floor in room and bathroom. - No internet in the first day (only in the morning of the last day) - Not so close to the train station. No complaint. Very little. To stay in the fifth floor. Very basic an the Internet was very very slow, to the point we couldn't do anything online. The lift was only to the fourth floor, a bit short of the fifth floor where we were. The tv did not work. Be aware that you only get what you pay for. The coffee machine did not work and no effort made to fix it. The advertised free WiFi did not work and the member of staff on duty was not interested in helping to solve the problem. Fortunately there was free WiFi at the tourist bureau. There was only one person at reception and he was unfriendly. not very clean. No breakfast. the wifi several time was interupted,. Did not know this prior to booking. In the summer they have live entertainment right outside the hotel from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM from Thursday-Saturday. We did not get any sleep. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to sleep. Beds soft; staff pleasant enough but often absent and not particularly knowledgeable; bedroom floor not well cleaned. very simple room (low budget). Third bed which was for my daughter was very average & had a huge dip in the middle. The shower rose could not be adjusted & wayer hit opposite wall, so we had to stand up against this to get wet. Also no shelfing or anywhere to put anything down whilst in there. Very expensive for average room, but I guess that's what you have to cop for this location, this time of year?. W-lan didn`t work properly (somedays did somedays didn´t). If you come late for check in it's problem. Because reception close 11:00 pm. Can not check in before 3 PM. The room had some smell when we entered. Over-priced.
