This small apartment in downtown Wellington was a real prize. Very close (easy walking distance) to all the tourist attractions and only a few blocks from major shopping; also on the bus line for Weta Cave. Great to be able to cook instead of eating out all the time; a New World Metro (full store) is just down the street; dishwasher was an added plus. Not serviced for short stays which was perfect for our trip. If this particular location is not available, the parent company has 3 others c.
all reviews » I was fortunate to get a room at the back of the hotel, which was incredibly quiet and peaceful. The room was a decent size (I was able to workout in the lounge area) and overall I liked the fact I could go about 100m down the road to the New World supermarket and cook a meal in my room. The kitchenette was well setup and would be ideal for people on a budget who wanted to save money by having the option to create your own meals. Honest, friendly staff, who found and returned the i-pad I stupidly left behind. Well presented, modern, clean facilities, which enabled me to organise my own breakfast and would have allowed me to cook simple meals if necessary. Excellent location - very central - just a short walk to Metro supermarket for any food or other necessities, good access to cafes, shopping, taxis etc. Quiet, with room at back overlooking car park. The receptionist was awesome. Nothing creates a first impression better than a good front desk person. Light humor and a well explained working of the hotel made for a great beginning to our stay. We were only there from 5pm one day until check out the next but we were more than happy with what we got for our money. Clean, fresh contemporary decor... Just a really well presented apartment. Apartment was very clean and spacious, with small kitchenette and washing machine. The area was quiet at night so got a good night's sleep. Will definitely stay here again on next visit to Wellington. Clean. Close to all the shops, restuarants and Westpac Stadium - within walking distance. Lovely crisp white sheets. Good size bed, that was comfortable. DVD player a good addition for people staying longer. Parking directly across the road was very convenient. Location of the Astelia made it very easy to get to. The apartments were located in the centre of the city with easy access to most of the attractions with an added bonus of a washing machine, great for us as as we were travelling. They were very clean and spacious, ideal for our needs. A large car park was across the road, with cheaper rates for hotel guests. Excellent location, close to about everything, including great transport to anything not within walking distance. Apartment was compact but had everything you could possibly need, dishwasher was a welcome surprise. Comfortable bed, nice and quiet. Highly professional and pleasant staff. Loved being able to come and go as we pleased, especially we out for a night on the town came back at 4am. Very happy with the two cheap short phone calls to Auckland, First impression of the room, oh wow this is gorgeous, talk about luxury. Was nice not to be interrupted on honeymoon. staff was very good.My keys were ready when i arrived.took me only few minutes to check in.Rooms are very clean and very well presented.I brought my 87yr old dad to wellington and he said to me the next day that he had the best sleep he has had ever.that meant a lot to me. The apartment was spacious, well equipped and very nice. A nice bathroom with shelving and washer/dryer combo. It was convenient to all important sites, a downtown supermarket was close by. Wifi was expensive. Reasonable cafe are close by. Staff were very nice to us. The unit was very well appointed and clean, with comfortable bed and great shower. Such a good location, everything was just a few minutes walk away. Taxi's at the door and a great cafe nextdoor that does a fantastic breakfast. We will definately be back!. City centre location. I have been using these apartments for a few years now and the standards have remained unchanged. Following the usual long-haul flight from the UK I requested a quiet room - thank you. I also love the black-out curtains. The staff were helpful and friendly, the hotel was well located in the middle of town, apartment was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Handy to have the New World Metro a couple of blocks down the street. Everything, fantastic rooms with all the facilities you can popssibly need. great laundry, cooking, hair dyer tv/music systems I have encountered. The warm and quiet/sound proof space. That it's (partially) eco-friendly!. we arrived to find too early to move into our allocated room.My daughter was unwell and reception kindly organised another room for us.Much appreciated as she was admitted to hospital for surgery that same night. The all in one washer/dryer facility for laundry was not ideal and the directions were not accurate, but 6 hours later we did get a load of clean clothes. Seems like they could have a less expensive internet service than what was offered, at least for short term stays. The first night I came back to the hotel late to find my entry swipe card didn't work. A number is on the door for security and they were able to let me in after 10 minutes or so. Was a slight annoyance so I advise people check their cards when they check in them just to be sure. The sofa bed ( which I used for my sister for a couple of nights) was not very comfortable - we put the mattress of the floor and that was fine. Need a chopping board and sharp knife in the kitchen - otherwise great!. Bathroom a little bit cramped. Only one "comfy" chair when there are two guests. Glitch with the parking across the road, voucher would not operate the out "arm gate", solved immediately by 0800 number. The WiFi system is dated and antiquated. If I do have to pay for Wifi (the rates were slightly more than I would normally care to pay) I certainly expect it to be faster and to function on several devices at the same time. My partner and I had to constantly log in and out of the system as we went about our business. Very tedious. had to ask for more laundry detergent, maybe a service - small clean and top up of coffee and Dish washing detergent etc. i was bit worried abut the carpark but staff assured me it is monitered 24 hours so i felt better. Wifi is expensive. Nothing. We were happy with our stay, thanks. Nothing. Everything was good. There was no-where to plug my usb in to charge my mp3 player. Despite 'fan' switch, there are no a/con facilities and, esp. after cooking, room does get very warm, and my stay was in mid-March. Local supermarket no better than OK. Not a problem for us but reception hours could be longer. Need more hooks or rails in the bathroom and somewhere to hang the dish towel. While the hotel can control the internal noise it is difficult to control loutish noise from outside the hotel. Stayed for 2 nights but room doesn't get serviced daily so ran out of coffee and would have liked clean towels. Free wifi would have been nice. Also window is clear and faced office block so no privacy without the curtain drawn which made the room dark. Only one soap in bathroom. I thought this was a little stingey. Unfortunately our room was road side and we had to put up with drunks yelling for many hours on the street on all 3 nights of our stay. Nothing to complain. Needed a clothes aired in the room as not all clothes can be machine dried. Shower head was broken and had to be tied up to prevent having to hold it in your hand. Deodorant bottle found under the bed from previous guest indicated room servicing isn't necessarily thorough. View is onto a multi-story carpark; kitchen equipment is good quality but rather basic; tiny bathroom, made worse by full-size washing machine stuck in the corner which meant having to close the door in order to use the basic, loo and shower; both dining chairs were cheap; light bulbs need replacing. No aircon, but opening the balcony door/windo cooled the place down in no time. Nothing!. we thought it needed something simple like a dustpan and brush in the room as we stayed 5 days and needed to clean up crumbs . Just a little thing. We knew that they don't service the apartment daily, so that was no problem for us, but others may not like this. The unit was comfortable but desperately needs refurbishing, and the kitchen rubbish bin was totally dented and bashed in. Toilet poorly positioned. Unable to get a receipt for accomodation when departing early (5am). A frying pan would be of assistance, otherwise its all great. Lack of attention to maintenance problems. Build up of rubbish in the disposal area. Not enough kitchen utensils in each room, no lift in the car park. Bathroom was a little on the cramped side. Was a very hot day when we arrived and there was no air con however reception kindly loaned us a fan. :). Car parking was a bit of a nightmare, being across the road in the Wilsons carpark. Shower leaked when taking a shower, hence bathroom floor was afloat. Quite noisy at night, from outside (my room opened on to Dixon St flats) and there was a lot of noise from people below me when I was there - reception hours not good at weekend - no can opener or good sharp knife in kitchen!!. TV very dated, presume they will upgrade when digital comes in- normally would not bother me but it was very wet when we were there and so I spent a lot of time indoors. Would have liked a few extra options for channels as well. Having to pay for Internet - this should be standard these days. We stayed there 18 days while my daughter worked in wellington and she needed internet access for her studies so $20 a day would have been a sizeable chunk of money. That there was no fridge. Only thing i didnt like was the hard toilet paper,.
