Everything went to plan, arrived late, key where they said with our name on it, nice little suit, nice fresh sheets, able to make our breakfast there, and a little dairy down below with essentials, really nice staff, left our bags there for the day, no problems, really happy with our stay, thanks. The first staff member we delt with was very nice and she offered for us to leave our bags even though our check in time was not until a few hours away. The room was very clean and set out really well. It was nice having windows that actually opened right up because it got very warm.
all reviews » The person that srved us at the desk was Phillip, and he was just wonderful! We had to cut our stay short, but he was very helpful and nice the entire time. The apartment was beatiful and well equipped, the location is great, five - ten minutes' walk from everywhere in wellington. The Quest made good use of such a small space. The room was convenient and had all the mod-cons of home. I loved that it contained a full sized stove and pots and pans etc. It also had a washing machine/dryer and washing powder for busy travellers like us. Thank you. Well equipped , clean , modern little apartment on the 13th floor with nice view of city. Very central location for shops and the Quay. Two proper , separate bedrooms ideal for 2 couples or a family. Friendly staff . Reasonable parking cost. They rang to let me know that our room needed to be changed and gave us a discount. We arrived before 10am and our rooms were available even then...fabulous!! They were extremely friendly and helpful. It was close to where we needed to go. Price, amenities in the room and full kitchen facilities allowed easy self catering, free paper, no sound could be heard from other rooms(private). Walking distance to the city and attractions. Clean, especially bathroom. Liked the location and premises - facilities were good, clean and tidy, modern and what we needed, front desk was helpful, use of the gym and pool down the road was good, and citymart next door convenient. When the bags were taken from us they were not actually locked away and they were sitting in a room with the door open close to the waiting area, when we came to collect there was no staff in sight, I think if they are going to offer to take your bags they should be stored away in a secure locked area. The washer/dryer machine is actually a washer/not-so-dryer machine. Could provide more information on local eating places. Also I imagine the apartment could be very warm in mid summer , we stayed in spring and it was fine , but I didn't notice any air con available. Another sofa in the living area might be handy. Small room but, hey, the price was good. Scaffolding outside of windows on motorway side of our rooms, a bit of an eyesore but understand maintenance needs to be done. That would be my only negative. Had only one bath towel. Person on front desk the next morning didn't have time to raise her head and greet us!. Room was tight packed with difficult access to the closet.Pillows were all very hard, not one soft one out of all the pillows. I didn't like turning the shower on because it was so powerfull it sprayed out the door. I'm not sure if the dryer part of the washing machine was broken?. I order through letsbookhotel.com at the rate of $218 for two nights and I was charged $248. And the staff said $218 is the correct payment. However, my visa debit is withdrew both $218 and $248. I hope that I can refund the $248 as soon as possible. And this is not a complaint. Nobody should be blamed. The hotel is really nice and the staff is very helpful. As a budget-friendly hotel, I should say that Quest On the Terrace is still my next choice for Wellington stay. View of the motorway and noise if you opened up the window. Some of the people on the front desk didn't seem to know anything about Wellington. Some of the furniture in the unit disappeared after the first night without any explanation. My room was a smidgen too small. Between walking around the table, not tripping on the step to the bathroom and getting around the big armchair, it was a bit cramped. Having said that, I was by myself and it was reasonably priced.. so fine. No Evacuation assembly areas displayed (not sure how you could account for people in a disaster) After the earthquake no contact was made to check we / room were ok? Rang for complimentary milk and the milk delivered was off. (The date had not expired so should have been ok. (Reception polite, apologied, and fixed) Booked for 3 persons however not enough towels for 3 people in the room. The fridge in the room is faulty and it was not until the last day that we realised that. The condenser unit has been taken out - the fridge needs replacing - Unit 5b. We were surprised that the change on towels was done in the evening and not during the day. Wi fi charges were a bit rich, so didn't bother -went to Maccas!. Wellingtons wind!!. Was on level one backing onto the motor way, was very noise but we did get use to it but there was a constant banging somewhere outside, which drove us crazy!!!!. we were on the 13 floor and the windows didn't have safety catchs on them and opened wide - first time I have encountered this above the 2nd floor of a hotel. We were told we couldn't have breakfast on Saturday despite our booking saying that breakfast was included in the room rate! Double glazing would have helped keep out the road noise. The stairwell to and from the offsite parking. We didn't realise no one would be on reception when we arrived at 10.30pm. Good instructions, although we had to get them in to help us with our vehicle - thank you. Building pretty old Windows dirty Mould in the bathroom - needed an extractor fan Limted carparks and very tight... Motorway traffic. You claim to include breakfast. Two slices of bread in the fridge is not breakfast. Other similar hotels (Travelodge) also include breakfast - a full buffet, and at a similar rate. I used to stay with them, and will return to them again. Scratches in the bathroom window Dryer not user friendly. Motorway noise. Shower was bung but other than that was perfect. The steps. Im disabled and dont do steps well. The warm breakfast was terrible. No parking available for arrival. The single bedroom was very small. Noisy from traffic when window was opened but too hot & stuffy to not open the window!. Very strong cooking smells in the corridor. Nothing. in most counties wifi is now free part of the package and it is about time NZ got into step with the rest of the world. Nothing. The space in the room, the layout of the room, we were given a very small room (I think it's smaller than what we supposed to get). Was a bit smaller than I was expecting. Noise from traffic at night caused by its location next to the motorway. The bedrooms were a bit small for the furniture in them. Nothing. broken window in first apartment given. No umbrellas.

Travelling information

From Wellington International Airport:

A taxi from the airport to us will cost in the region around $35/$40.00 and take about 20 minutes. A bus service called "The Stagecoach Flyer" leaves the airport every 30 minutes throughout the day. Hop off the bus at Capital on the Quay on Lambton Quay, take the lift to the eighth floor and cross the road, and there we are. Shuttle services on demand are also available from the airport.

From the Ferry:

A taxi from the Interislander Terminal will cost approximately $10/15.00 and from the Lynx Terminal approximately $6/10.00, and will take about 5-10 minutes to reach the hotel. Shuttle services are also available on demand.

If driving from the Interislander Terminal drive into the city and turn left into Whitmore Street (fourth set of lights from the ferry terminal) follow it through until it becomes Bowen Street, and then turn left off Bowen Street onto The Terrace. We are on the right-hand side as you travel up The Terrace.

If driving from the Lynx Terminal, simply drive out of the terminal, through the intersection into Whitmore Street follow it through until it becomes Bowen Street, and then turn left off Bowen Street onto The Terrace. We are on the right-hand side as you travel up The Terrace.

From the Train Station:

We are approximately a $8.00 taxi ride from the train station. Alternatively, you may choose to walk along Lambton Quay until you reach Capital on the Quay. Take the lifts to the eighth floor, exit the building, cross the road and there we are!

By Car from the North:

If arriving in Wellington from the north, simply take The Terrace Exit. Once at the traffic lights, turn left and we are about 100 meters down the road on you left.
