We stayed three nights, the second of three visits while in NZ. Returning to Wellington & the City Life after touring the rest of NZ felt like home from home. City Life has a very convenient location, almost next to the Cable Car to the Botanic Gardens & central for all Wellington's down town attractions. We had a double bedroom apartment which gave us an extra en suite toilet. The lounge & kitchen areas are good. The washing machine, fridge, TVs and air conditioning are all goo.

The decor is a little dated, but clean and pleasant. The reception staff were always pleasant. Good internet PC facilities. We stayed four nights, the first of. 2 bedroom apartment was spacious, good equipment level etc, but the interior is still a bit dated somehow. Needs some freshening up and oomph, though the basics are well and truly there to work with. staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, no matter what issue or what time of night or day. Cleaning of the room was done in a way, you never noticed they came and went. I was left some chocolates on arrival because they remembered it was my birthday.... a lovely touch !!!. Great central location near the harbour front, cable car, museum and main shops. Our 2 bed apt had 2 bathrooms and full laundry facilities - so useful. Luxurious furnishings - looks like a desirable apartment to live in Good service - when we left too late they gave us a basket of towels and tea etc Gym on site pretty good Lots of electrical sockets Loads of space - a big apartment plus cupboards, full kitchen,.extras like dressing gowns. When first arriving at the hotel the staff were amazing and set the tone for a very pleasant stay. Our suite was very roomy, very clean and very comfortable. The view was not much but that didn't worry us because everything else (more importantly) was tops. Continental breakfast was very good - in fact much better choices than those we have at home. We will most definitely stay in CityLife Wellington again. Staying at the CityLife made our trip to Wellington a lot easier. This was due to the location which meant we could do our shopping without having to drive. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we could need. My only criticism would be that they send the address for their reception which is still in the same building but to drive there you don't enter off Lambton Quey. The CBD has fabulous boutiques for shopping and great restaurants. Wellington is such a stylish city. The people too are so very well groomed. I love the quirky and artistic features dotted around the city and even at the airport you can see the support for the film and arts industry. I love being amongst it all. I try to get there every year for the Wearable Arts Show. Location was excellent, right on Lambton Quay. The room was spacious, comfortably accommodating two adults and two young kids in the two bedrooms. We even entertained,one evening with an extra 3 adults in the room, which was comfortable. Laundry and kitchen facilities are a must when traveling with kids and this makes the extra $$ worthwhile. midcity location excellent, family apartment suited our family, extra bed for one night helpful, enjoyed the soaps, shampoo etc, very clean, lovely linens and towels, decor pleasant, could entertain our extended family for cup of tea in our lounge. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. The kitchen area was very usable and the laundry in the room was a real bonus. The living room was nice and large and my daughter enjoyed sprawling on the corner sofa. The linen was beautifully clean. The closets were nice and large and there were spare towels and pillows. It was modern, exceptionally clean and fully equipped with kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It was centrally located with easy access to Wellingtons shopping and bars and a short walk to Cuba Street. From the moment we walked in and got told we had been up-graded to the moment they ordered a taxi back to the airport for us when we left. The location to everything couldn't have been better. Being in the heart of the cbd made shopping and getting about so very easy. the children loved the waterfront, te papa, cable ride etc and all within walking distance. Staying both at Christmas & July it has been clean, nice décor & the staff are always pleasant. We booked 3x 2bdrm aptmts which was brilliant! Location was convenient for attending a wedding in city over w/end. Room facilities ideal for family. Staff were friendly and helpful. Carparking reserved for easy wheelchair access..so kool!. The large space in the lounge/ dining area in our suite meant we could all congregate & dine together (8 of us) easily which made it more convivial. Great location for exploring downtown. Handy for cable car and bus to and from airport, stops outside the hotel, only $9 per head. Sef catering rooms excellent. We had my daughter and her 15 month old son with us and he pushed buttons on the phone and lift and slept late and generally caused chaos.The staff were very understanding and very helpful in coping with him. This is our third stay at the City Life over a three week period of touring and coming back to Wellington. I have already written two favourable reviews and this third visit confirmed them. I liked the layout of the apartment, it was large and spacious. I would stay here again but not in the same apartment (see below) the staff were very apologetic and helpful. Ridiculous in this day and age, not to have free wifi in the room, ....have to go to the foyer with your laptop. Urgh!! and this considering that immediately out the door of the building and all along the main street for miles, the city provides free wifi access. Shame beds were queen sized only when rooms were so large Main shopping street outside slightly noisy - but convenient. Nothing. Can't think of anything. I come from Christchurch and I guess the only fear I have when I'm in Wellington CBD is the panic I'd feel if there ever was an earthquake. However recently I did see alot of strengthening of buildings happening on just about every street. I'm sure after the recent quake there is the awareness and urgency to make the CBD as strong as possible. No wireless in the rooms. While the room was tidy, the hotel overall is looking a bit rundown and could do with some cleaning/painting. The windows were really dirty. No hair dryers in either ward robe, no coffee plunger in kitchen (although coffee grounds provided), not enough plates for the four people staying. Hotel did immediately provide hair dryer when asked. I asked at check-in whether my car was okay parked out front and was told that that was no problem - I was NOT told that I had to put a card in the front window - that was a bad mistake by your check-in girl. The dishwasher powder was insufficient for a weeks stay and wasn't always replaced by the cleaner. There was no frying pan in the kitchen. Only that I noticed some traffic & construction noise late at night and early morning but I guess that's to be expected when staying in the CBD. Nothing springs to mind. The earthquake!!!!. was a little noisy in the small wee hours, but that is to be expected given its location. double glazing may be worth considering. Thought it was great!. Wine on sale at the bar $10 a glass, bit steep. Free cheese session at 17:30, we saw the biscuits but zero cheese, gone in 30 minutes. Internet, poor software on hotel PC, paid $10 for an hour and wasn't able to use properly. Initially confused to get to reception via the 6th floor. I had the worst room because the bedroom wall backed onto the gym and I could hear the music and pounding on the treadmill early in the morning. That room needs serious insulation in the wall. Nothing. Nothing. No cafe or restaurant/bar within CityLife. Bigger, more cosy public lounge area. There was nothing we didn't like!!!. Not having a view. A few more kitchen utensils would have been helpful. ( no egg flip). Decore a little tired but it was clean. Building work going on next door with drilling on going on every time we were in the room, and although it stopped for the weekend I really did not like the 07.52 Monday morning start up. Realise this was out of the hotels control but you could have prewarned us with an e-mail. No view. Couch was a bit tired looking (small stains and exposed/split zip). Skirting boards need cleaning and small amount of peeling wallpaper. only complaint was the bathroom. Found it rather small and looked patched up in places. Also in the room with two singles there was a noise like an exhaust fan or something going all night and it wasnt in our room sounded like it came from the hallway or somewhere. The walls were a little thin so we had a little noise from neighboring apartments. Hard to access hotel and parking. all good. Parking was a bit hard. The workmen outside installing the aircon units. We had to have the curtains closed the whole time. This room should not have been offered, or offered at a discounted rate. Nothing. No lift to seventh floor. the dirty windows of the living (outside, not inside) no WIFI in apartment. For a big family, I found there was not enough utensils/pots and pans to accomodate (use of large pot/tray), otherwise, everything else was good, thank you. Window on the second floor room could not be opened and the mobile aircon did not work, not very comfortable with 26 degrees c outside. The fact I was woken up at 4.30- 5am every morning by a construction crew outside. I know this is beyond the Hotel's control. The breakfast area - a hot buffet breakfast would have been good. A mirror in the twin room would have been useful.

The Living Room on the sixth floor at Reception level is open for guests to enjoy a European-style breakfast, stop by for a coffee during the day or relax and enjoy a wind-down beverage at the end of the working day.
