The service was sensational. The staff were helpful, accommodating, efficient and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. My sister in law is disabled and they really made sure that she had everything she needed and was comfortable in her room all with a great big smile. Would definitely stay again. The check in was extremely fast. Like how you had free newspapers at the front desk. I love the location. A very nice hotel. Loved that you had shampoo AND CONDITIONER. Makes me crazy when hotels only provide shampoo. Nice, classy touch.
all reviews » The girl on reception was absolutely lovely! She was a great help and had a heap of local knowledge to give advice on what to do's. Our room was nice and had a good view of the lake :) I would definitely stay here again. Very good location, less than 5 mins walk to polynesian spa, room and the bed provided is big and comfortable. The staff is very helpful and willing to make bookings for our next tour eventhough we had checked out. I really appreciated the empathy we received from the reception staff, they were really helpful and caring :) there was a Maori waitress who was really pleasant and friendly, the staff made our stay :). Reception staff were most helpful. Loved the use of the big pool and private spa's. The room was very comfortable. Having a young child I found it helpful being placed close to the laundry room. Good service at the desk friendly and helpful. Nice quiet room and bed was very comfortable. Would stay again wish we had more time to have a swim in the pool and walk round the Lake. Bird poop on the patio chairs and a hanging shelf in the shower would be nice. an upgrade in the bathroom facilities would be good especially an adequate or luxury shower instead of a bath and with good water pressure. the service from the house bar we should have been directed straight to the lounge of where we had our meal as it had its own bar and would have been able to sit down after A full day of the marathon. The bathroom showed its age with repair marks showing in wall over the bath. Wash basin would not hold water but after notifying staff was fixed the morning we left as was a blown light bulb over a bed. Carpet was shabby.As a tourist hotel the $127-00 tarrif was ok but in booking a extra night and charged $169-00 thought it excessive. Nothing really, but always handy to have some plates, bowls and cutlery in the room especially with a family. The constant sulpher smell. On arrival took a while to locate a key, but it was a busy weekend, so was not a big deal. Kids (not ours) not obeying jumping in to pool area - probably would up the age limit to require adult supervision. SOme parents seemed to make pool the babysitter. Unclear where the reception is upon arrival. The coffee in the room was same as all sachet coffee - disgusting again. Our room didn't smell pleasant (and no it wasn't the smell from the lake!), almost like someone had cooked in there or eaten something with a strong smell. First floor room was very noisy due to air-conditioning unit overhead - don't stay in Room 632! - sounded like a washing machine stuck on spin cycle droning away constantly! I should have asked to be moved but didn't - my stupidity. pool was small for that size hotel , could sometimes get the sulpher smell in the room (not always). It was really noisy the night I stayed there. Throughout the whole night you could hear people coming and going. Shortage of parking outside of back room. Bathroom slightly dated. TV reception poor. Lack of information re channel availability and selection. Wait for room key. Smoke detector was wrapped in toilet paper. Room smelt old. A bit utilitarian architecture. No problems. Place is a bit tired, needs a make over. Our rooms were near where the big buses pulled up. The hotel was great - but we have to admit we did not find the Rotoroa "smells" easy - but then we knew that would be the case!. A play area for under 12 would have made it perfect. Bathroom door had a bit of a rough repair on the inside. Other than that everything was fine. TV was old reception was bad. Place was a little noisy. Needs a microwave. More cups and glasses. In some of the rooms you can't open the window and in summer it is really hot. But they are going to change it. The block we stayed in was somewhat jaded. The decoration and floor coverings were past their best. staff a bit distant; better communication could have saved us money in that they sold us a package for more people than were in our party! More profit for them. Location.
