I was showing an older person a good hotel/good food experience for the first time in her life.(she's 80yrs old) She loved every minute including your delightful hotel pool. (we were too tired to get into the hot pools) The food in the restaurant was perfectly cooked. The breakfast was lovely with ample choice. All in all a marvellous experience with such helpful staff. Very good value for money as well.

The drinks and nibbles in the lounge in the evening were brilliant and a great way to unwind. The host of the Club Lounge is very friendly, offers some fantastic advice for travel in the region and looks after his guests very well. I was very impressed with him. We found the Millennium Hotel to be great value for money. Once you walk through the beautiful foyer, it just keeps getting better. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing beverage in the hotel bar and were delighted to receive peanuts to go with our drinks. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again in the near future. Great location and great value. Just located in the town centre and within walking distance from beautiful lake rotorua. The lobby staff was very nice and friendly. We have been offered $10 buffet breakfast and it was amazing! Also another restaurant just located at the front door was really recommended. This hotel was great and by far the best hotel we stayed in during our 3 week New Zealand vacation. The staff was fantastic. My daughter broke her eye glasses and the staff easily directed us to a local optometrist that repaired them for FREE. It was a very good value. We found the room larger than other hotel rooms and liked the glass shelves to put extra things on. The ks bed was very comfy and I was able to get a feather pillow. The bathroom had a good layout and good lighting and we found the room to be very quiet. We stayed 4 nights with 2 grandchildren aged 4 & 6. Most of all, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful and while the mainstream business of the hotel appears to be 1 night tour groups the staff made our sty most enjoyable. The staff we're consistently so professional, approachable and well presented. I would particularly like to mention Norrie, who greeted us on arrival. He was friendly, professional and very informative - worth his weight in gold!. Friendly staff very accommodating the club room facilities were excellent. Food was very good, as we had one of there special night meals. Close proximity to the town and thermal spas. The Club room could have more plugs close to mirrors for the women to use there hair gadgets,ie dryers straightners ect.not impressed.Could you not have a socket in the bathrooms for this kind of thing, men have a shaving socket. staff seem a bit overworked at times and night duty manager wasnt much help when we asked for soft piullows - thankfully Norry went the extra mile and came to our rescue!. * There were used cotton buds in the vanity box in the bathroom * My dinner at Nikau was horrible. Overcooked salmon, bland, and presentation appalling. And the price of $32 was just ridiculous! * My son's mini burgers were terrible. The meat was so overcooked it was like tough leather. It took me a little while to get from our room to the pool, it wasn't an easy route or well marked. Minimal TV channels, strange smell in hallway outside room 2204 - musty, havng to pay extra for a flat white coffee at breakfast (over and above the breakfast rate). The common areas of the hotels were very nice, but the furniture was a bit worn and needed attention. Not really the hotel's fault I guess but the sulphur smell seeped through the door at night so perhaps a non-lake facing room would be a good option. Room wasn't as big as I would expect for such a famed hotel brand. Internet wasn't free/available given that our room was all the way down the far end of a corridor. we could hear a screaming toddler next door. bath plug was not water tight fridge leaked. 2Nd night in restaurant waitress was abrupt. Food arrived on cold plates had to send part back, should have sent all back after seeing someone do this,it felt like we were at a different restaurant. Would expect consistent service in a top class hotel. Check out was slow, banked up, need more staff considering 'had to check out no later than 10am'. Room decor was a little outdated, but it was fine for a short stay!. Nothing. Little slow when booking in at peak time. One bed lamp was extremely bright in our room,and difficult to open door lock with key. Only 20 mins wifi. First day spa was really warm and wonderful, second day a little colder but ok and third day was very cold. It was a shame as we enjoyed the spa. Once staff informed they were quick to attend to it which was great. The only thing we really didnt like was the pillows they were very hard. Easily fixed though I suggest you bring your own! :). We were both very dissapointed in the Fodd side of this hotel. The Buffet although there was a wide variety of food. Nothing was hot (besides the toast!!) and the baked beans which were luke warm I could not eat mine so settled for cereal. Even the coffee was cold. The Nikau resturant was also dissapointing and for $110 for 2 mains and 2 entrees was not up to standard. Do not think we will stay there again. Some maintenance can be done to upgrade the rooms. The hotel felt a bit tired and old despite having modern decor. Our lake view double room was pretty small and the bathroom smelled funny (not of sulphur). This hotel is more geared to big tour groups than couples travelling on their own. Small things but the shower head in the room was very low (chest height on women) and the mirror in the bedroom had no plug sockets near it. Shower head sprayed the water out in such a way that it was very low pressure. We were actually cold in the shower even with the water turned up!. Nothing. Pool not available 6:30-8:30pm. The weather!. Decor in the rooms was tired. The furnishings in foyer were uninspired!. The buffet breakfast, it was the worst one I've ever been to. The rooms are extremely old looking and need to be refurbished. We didn't like the lack of choice of sports TV channels. Not able to watch the Black Caps giant win last night and not able to watch our horse race because of NO Trackside TV Channel and this is free to air and only needs to tuned in. We offered to pay a technician to enable this but your policy denied this. Sorry we won't stay with you again until this is available.!!. No free internet. Only 20-30 mins free WIFIin the lobby. For a 5 star hotel internet should be free. The bathroom above overflowed into our bathroom. Once cleaned up, on the floor, the roof was stilll dripping. We found it uncomfotable going to the toilet when cold water was dripping on us. We found the Hotel a bit like a rabbit warren. It is definitely a family hotel. It took us an hour to programme the tv so that we could watch it correctly , instead of fluoro peopleon the screen. The Bathroom was just a wet room, water didn't drain properly. A proper in built shower or bath would of been nice.
