This motel is just beautiful. The present photos do not do it justice, our studio apartment was fabulous, spacious, lovely decor, large comfortable bed, excellent furnishings, refreshing colours, and immaculately clean. The staff went out of their way for us. We had to be somewhere by 11am and asked if we could park our car at the motel. Out of the 3 places we stayed in, the staff here were simply the best, friendly and only too willing to help out, with best places to eat and what attractions to see and offering umbrella's as they could see it was going to rain on our walk. (which it did). We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit, and it was like luxury, clean, modern and comfortable with free wifi to top it all off! Hubby now wishes I booked our whole stay here and not just the 1 night. The motel is spotless and the Studio rooms are spacious with a separate kitchenette and bathroom. It is located in an excellent position within walking distance to the beach/foreshore, wharf and lots of shops and restaurants. Paihia itself is in the centre of so many things to see and do.We were made to feel like part of the family by the owners and their staff. Thanks so much for a wonderful 3 night stay....we will be back!. We booked a one bedroom apartment. From the outside it looked like a basic motel. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the apartment and also that it had recently been refurbished. Our apartment was serviced every day, the motel was extremely well maintained. Location was great, close to everything but just a little bit away from the noise on the main street. Great service from staff. Motel personnel very friendly and helpful. Easy to find, right off the main hwy and near shops / stores to pick up groceries to cook in room. Plates / utensils / minimal pots sufficient to prepare a modest meal. Coffee / plunger / tea / milk provided which made a nice start of the day. Rooms clean and parking right outside door made it easy to unload vehicle without climbing stairs. The motel has an excellent location to discover the Bay of Islands. Just a few minutes walk from Paihia centre from where all attractions can be accessed Apartment was well equipped and included a kitchen with good kitchentools and equipment. The room was made up every day. Free wifi was provided. Staff was giving good advices helping to discover the area. The place is spotless. Staff are so friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Enough room for our baby to safely run around. Tv good too. Free wifi and not 50 or 100mb. You can use as much as you like. Not many hotels offer that. Lovely spa pool too. Having a pool and spa were great benefits as well as the free internet. Facilities were plentiful and it was no trouble to book an extra night. Handy to Paihia town and beach. Small shower stall and furnishings / bedspread old and dated. The wifi was extremely slow, it took 5 minutes to open an e-mail. There was a noisy young group above our room, we could hear them running up and down in their room and on the staircase. we found the coin laundry a bit expensive. Im being picky here. Small pool bit it was safe for our 7 year old to swim in. We lost our key and took about 30 mins to find it. Staff didn rush us at all. Great value for money. Nothing!. No complaints whatsoever. No problems at all. There was a strange smell when we entered the room for the first time, but it quickly disappeared after opening the windows. There was nothing I did not like. Unfortunately we were downstairs and the upstairs tenants were extremely noisy which spoilt the stay. Not a fan of the stove in the kitchenette, not the best for searing a steak. Parking a bit tight. Rooms are a little exposed at times. But this is the opinion of an Aucklander desperate to get away from congestion. Not a thing to conplain about very pleasant place to stay. I would have liked a later check out time. Can't think of anything. I travelled with my mum who can't walk too far so I needed to drive to the main shopping and tourist area. But that's not a big deal really- it saves time by driving there! (Ps in your review I've put mature travellers but maybe should have another one for family as mid-aged daughter with senior mum). None. Didn't like being on the ground floor. Stayed a Saturday night, surrounding venues rather loud but finished at 1ish, nothing owners could do. Needed to clean behind toilet door.. only fault!. the only thing that would have been nice was there wasnt any views but hey cant have everything. There was nothing we didn't like. Nothing. Can't be faulted. There was nothing we could say that we didn't like or enjoy during our stay at Averill Court Motel. Can't thinkof anything. We were in 1 of the front units with family living above. Quite noisy with sliding doors and heavy footsteps. Would ask for back unit next visit. No bedside cabinets. Nothing. Nothing. Toilet door can't lock,no hook in second room,dead ants in kitchen.
