Very welcoming and friendly staff, transfer, reception, porter, cleaning... Everybody! The free airporttransfer to the hotel in the middle of the night was the big pro, and it was really easy: we just called at the special phone in the arrival hall and the bus was there in 10 minutes. They also dropped us off at the rental company the next day. Due to our short stay we did'nt had the time to enjoy the other facilities... But we enjoyed a cup of coffee (water boiler in the room) and tea at our l.
all reviews » The first impression was a great one. Having our friendly driver meet us at the airport was great. The reception staff were very cheerful and helpful-even escorting us to our room so that we didn't have to wander to find it on our 2am arrival. The design, layout, comfort and cleanliness of our room allowed us to relax completely. We loved being able to hire our mini from our motel : )) Even the little touches- the morning paper and the chocolates on the bed, were just delightful. Hotel excellent - Restaurant, not so great! - I always use this hotel as a buffer after a flight from my home in Europe and a visit with my family, I am guaranteed a wonderful restful sleep in a fabulous room with incredibly soft beds, relaxing garden views and a wonderful refreshing shower after a strenuous flight and before the onward journey to catch up with family and friends. I would not stay any where else, it delivers every time. Virtually everything about the hotel. We were in the refurbished section and the room in most aspects was excellent. Superbly fitted out and very comfortable, extremely modern. Hotel location to airport and their shuttle service 24/7 cannot be faulted. I would definitely stay again. The room. Modern, well appointed, luxurious linen, very comfortable although the heating seemed to struggle with the chilly temperature outside. As we are tired we really do not want to have to go out for food. We had a very bland lunch, a dinner where the meat was so over cooked it was barely edible, and when my son who was 12 hours out of his time zone called up for room service after sleeping through dinner, no one answered the phone, even though 'over night room service' was advertised in the room. The only fault we found was the 'open plan' aspect and glass window to the superbly fitted out bathroom and great walk in shower in addition to the bath. The screen closing off the bathroom still allows the light to go through, so if anyone uses the bathroom during the night by putting on the light disturbs anyone sleeping in the bedroom. My only quibble was that I booked breakfast along with my room, but was charged a higher rate at the hotel. There was no benefit in booking it before arrival. The restaurant. We had a light lunch on arrival. The linguine tossed in extra virgin oil was dreadful, swimming in oil, luke warm and tasteless. The kitchen also served spaghetti not linguine. Evening meal was again a great dissapointment. A very pretentious, under- performing restaurant doing a disservice to the excellent hotel to which it serves. nothing. Nothing really. The smell coming out of the bathroom wall in room 155. One of the windows had no blind and an outside light was shining into the room when we turned off our lights. Staff quickly rectified this by coming to the room and taping some cardboard on the glass. Apparently the blinds have been ordered though. The bed was far too soft for my comfort - and with a growing Chinese market for NZ there is a need for firmer yet comfortable mattresses. Also (although this tended to amuse rather than annoy) putting 2 single beds together does not really make a double bed). There wasn't anything that we didn't like about this hotel. the food was a bit unrefined. perhaps option for smaller servings. felt too "a mercian" portions. I hate to waste food. Name and entrance a bit confusing. A small playground/area to let the kids out to play would be nice, but this is a very minor thing as we walked to a nearly sport field for a play. Pool area is a bit run down bathroom very small. Glass round the bathroom, especially the toilet. Some of the breakfast items sent to my room were incorrect. This was quickly rectified after alerting reception. I think it would be better if internet access was made available in rooms at no cost. Increase the cost of the room prices to cover the improved facility. Nothing all good. Bar shut too early lol. Nothing. Couldn't fault it. No microwave in room. No electric blankets , heating slow when temperature drops at night. Shower either hurricane force or off. The restaurant was loud unwelcoming and our food was disappointing. More importantly no one seemed to care. Nothing. Room smelt of smoke, the hotel immediately agreed to swap the room for a different one. Having to walk outside to get to our room. Poor service in the restaurant for breakfast. That I couldn't stay longer to enjoy the spa. Absence of water jug in fridge; having to leave!. Free wifi not available to rooms, only in public area. No pen or paper in room. free wifi would be good, and would further differetiate the Copthorne from its competition.
