friendly staff good service you can sit on your balcony untill late at night BRILL excellent location. Location was great. It is a 20 minute walk into Haarlem - it was pleasant when we did it but very cold.The food was excellent with a good range. The breakfast was particularly good. However, it wasn't cheap. they upgraded us to a much larger room. Free parking. location. no kettle in the room with coffee. Noisy restaurant, far from city center.no air con in rooms got very warm in room.could not leave patio door open as it had i long balcony. Big tub, but tiny shower! Room was clean but smelled bad, like urine...probably because they allow pets. Lousy access to building where the rooms are located...had to go into ground level, go up a floor to the reception level, cross thru a connecting hall into second building, then take another elevator to the appropriate floor...quite an ordeal just to get in and out!. Service in resturant was to slow. no mini bar in the room. No small fridge in room. No A/C. it is dangerous to use the shower, because of teh way the hot water tap is installed. You cannot openit without getting the steaming hot water on your arms. Rooms seem to have problems with cold air leaking in through the windows. When it's cold and windy, the rooms can't get warm. I changed rooms and it was about the same. Others in my party also experienced the same problems. I did not like paying extra for an internet connection.Slow service in the Restaurant. Rooms were not clean. Magazines in room were outdated and stuck to our table and to other magazines. Asked about getting a sports channel on the TV and the front desk staff (gentleman) stated the hotel did not have any sports channels. We found out later it was available via pay per view. The gentleman said he knew nothing about the pay per view option. We missed the US Open!!!. Wishes there had been tea and coffee making facilities in the room and maybe a mini-bar. Breakfast wasn't up too much either. Dim lighting in room and bathroom.My room was located near the fitness center, and the place is very noisy(door squeeking and slamming, heel hammering) late in the night. Very noisy hotel from main road and other guests in adjacent rooms, breakfast poor, not enough food left and poor quality for a 4 star hotel. Some staff seem to think they work in a 5 star hotel, which it isn`t. Hotel is realy starting to show its age. Verry annoying when you don`t get the room you booked. the decor in the rooms - way to 70's. Disappointed with there being no tea or coffee making facility in rooms. To buy these items in hotel is very expensive. The hotel is also in need of urgent refurbishment. There can be strange smells!. The decore was very dated and dark, so that it was difficult to tell if it was clean or not. The lighting in the room was particularly dim with dark lampshades. The bathrooms wer very stylish and modern.the upgraded room seemed in an wing that is in need of some renovation; the tap of the bathroom sink is placed in such a way that when used, most of the water spills onto the granite work top instead of into the sink, and the shower head sprays water all over the place except straight down, causing Niagara effects and a soaking wet floor. Furniture looking poorly (in need of paint job). Front access up the stairs....Bizaar...several lightbulbs were not working and have not been replaced after letting the stuff know about it. The water in the shower was wolrking very poorly. The floor was dirty. This is not a 4 star hotel. The furniture is very cheap in the room. The bathroom was not clean. It is impossible to control the temperature in the room.The hotel must spend all of its resources keeping up the fancy lobby because once you get past there the rooms are discusting! The halls and elevator were dirty. The room was large but the bathroom door did not shut, the room was not very clean and the beds were uncomfortable - only the lobby is 4 star.
