I was overwhelmed by the value and comfort of this hotel. Rooms are extremely clean and well equipped, as are the bathrooms, breakfast is great and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back. Smokeys club did not disturb us, contrary to other reviews. I liked the vicinity of Central Station and Red Light district. Low level of noise due to isolated position on Rembrandt square. I liked the staff, clean room, and especially good value for money.

The manager was a great help in co-ordinating the recovery of my friend's lost wallet ( which he lost in Den Haag), by duly receiving phone calls and communicating the messages to us, as well as helping us with making the necessary phone calls.Coffee and tea in the room together with teapot was really nice. I also enjoyed fresh orange juice at the breakfast. And the location is just the best if you wanna see Amsterdam! Right in the center!. Friendly staff, middle of everything, tram was pretty much right in front of hotel. and there was also a bar-coffeeshop underneath us. very clean, larger room than I have expected, very good brakefast, super location, confortable and friendly, staff very helpfull, you could also leave your luggage in safe condition if you leave town in the evening as we did; unbelivable: although it was mid august, because one night rained and was a little chill, they turned on their heating facilities so we could continue our peacefull sleep. The location of this hotel is fantastic, if possible i would defiitely ask for a room on the front overlooking the square because the square was always lively and buzzing.The hotel was very clean and tidy and the breakfast was very nice andserved until 12noon which was great considering I was on a stag do. The mattresses were a bit too soft and springy, almost making you sink, and it was difficult getting in and out of the bed. Firm mattresses would have been ideal. windy stairs and no elevator... became very loud til 4 am because of the bar downstairs, but was still able to fall asleep, just bring earplugs. The breakfast that was included was rather poor, but id stop at the hotel again without any hesitation.Only the fact the shower rooms were not en suite. However the showerswere only just outside every room and were cleaned regularly and I neverhad to queue for them. With the window a bit open ( for some fresh air ) you have to get used to some noise from the square ( in the evening and all city life ( cleaners ) in the morning ).No elevator. Shared bath. WC not separated from the shower room => quite embarrassing beacause it's shared with neighbors. our window was old and would not stay open, so the room was very very hot and this made it hard to sleep. we were told at reception that there should have been something in the room to hold the window open but the staff never supplied us with this. we had to find something to kept the window open with ourselves. request that the window in your room opens properly. this was the only fault we found.Was extreamly hot in the rooms. No air con....? Couldn't open the window properly either.....Would have preferred proper mugs to drink tea and coffee out of in the rooms. end tables with lamps would have been handz. smokey smell in the hotel room and rather small bathroom. Our window in our room could not stay up so it got a bit hot and stuffy in there at times.stairs. A lot of steep stairs. Small room (which isn't actually a problem if you plan just to sleep in hotel).Some rooms not ready until 4pm. It is better to have a small refrigerator in each room. no it was fine. actually its about all the hotels and hostels in Amsterdam, that they are too expensive. not fair for the service.Shared toilets. Some rooms have pretty much street noise. Especially the ones above theSmokey bar.Nothing really. It's great regarding it's category and price. A deposit was required for hand towels but this was not known before checking in.bear bones of a hotel but nice people and helpful. small room, small bath. ther isn't internet connection service inside. We were at the top of about 5 flights of very tight stairs. Probably not best for OAPs.the room on 5th floor was without nice view from window, and there was very warm because of top flor. the smoking, lack of wireless internet. Noisy boys in the room next to us. Yes. There was no TV in the room, which turn out to be an unpleasant experience, due to the noise outside. The beds are too narrows.the location of the hotel, i mean , it's located in a place very concurred, where people make the party until 6am , was soooo difficult to sleep.
