I liked the fact that it was close to the town centre and still resonably priced, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and there was no pressure to check in at specific times. Very good value for money. Clean, and I felt safe there - even as a woman traveling alone. Also felt that my belongings were safe. Keep in mind that the ratings above are "for what it was." This is a hostel; I stayed in a bunk bed in a small room with 5 other people in it. For that, though, I had an excellent stay.all reviews »
Friendly personal, good location. Good bed, great location, good price and wonderful staff. This was my first time in Amsterdam and they were really helpful in giving me advice about what to do and see in the city. Thank you and see you again in the future!. Broken shower hoses and the water from the shower cabins regularly flooding the whole floor in the men's bathroom; lockers too small for anything...very old hotel, room cold, not real confort. Prices expensive compare to the real standing of the hotel. They give me a different room without private toilette as I requested. Room was not cleaned every day. So sometimes we came back and it wasstill the same as when we left it. Do not go to this hostel. There are rats that will try to eat your foodin case you leave it in your room. I got a room for 6 people when Ibooked one for 2. Moreover, the room was connected with another one with6 people, I could heard everything, and tha worst thing, in case myneighbours wanted to go into my room they could have done it becuse therooms were connected through a window!!!. The male member of staff on reception was surly and unhelpful. My dormitory room was in the basement, with no natural light, which I was not made aware of. My room was overcrowded; it has people in when 4 would have been the right number. There were mice in the room. The beds were far too small for an adult. The staff were extremely rude.Dirty linen. Told, when we complained, they had credit card details, and that we could go but they would still charge me one night for all 10 guests.I booked for facilities in room but had to share toilet for double room, and share food with a mouse!!!. the girl in reception unkindness,ironic,hideously conduct.

Travelling information
By Train & tram:
From Schiphol airport, take the train to Amsterdam central station. It is about 15 minutes ride.
From the central station take tram number 1, 2, or 5 and get off at Leidseplein.
Marnix Street (straat) is the next street to your right.
Turn right to Marnix Street and walk 200 meters, pass the little bridge, until you see the hotel on your left hand side.
Please remember that the trams are running until about 24:00, so after that you will need to use a taxi. It is a 5 to 10 minutes drive.
By taxi:
Alternatively, you could take a taxi from Schiphol airport. It is about 20 to 30 minutes ride. The prices are around 30 to 40 Euros.
