The apartment was itself just beautiful: clean, comfortable and with huge windows that looked out over the Singel canal. Marten and JoJo were lovely and very helpful - they immediately came over to show me how to use the stove when I couldn't figure it out myself, and when I needed to charge my iPod but had forgotten my charger, they dropped theirs by for me to use. The Nespresso coffee machine included a full box of assorted pods - yay! The shower was nice and hot and the bed very comfy and th.
all reviews » The apartment was as advertized,clean, has all conveniences and despite being located close to the city center was quiet and cozy, view is beautiful. JoJo, the owner, met as as agreed at the door, helped with the luggage as stairs are steep (but we were warned about it and did not mind), was very friendly and when we had a question late in the evening replied to cell phone call immediately. Internet was working well. We also were able to live our luggage in the storage room after check-out whic. First it is the location that sells this place.it is wonderful located on the Singel canal,perfect for a honeymoon or a romantic time.we loved everything about it.the kitchen had everything that we need,the bed was very comfortable,the bathroom was great.all in all it was perfect for a 3 nights stay.it was nice that we were able to enjoy a glass of wine at the window,looking at the beautiful panorama. All in all I recommend this place.it was a "LITTLE piece of HEAVAN" for us. Jojo and Marten were both lovely hosts and have a really nice apartment. You couldn't ask for a better location, about 10mins walk from the station looking out of the Signel canal. You can get to most other parts of Amsterdam on foot from here and we never travelled by tram. The apartment itself is really nice, loads of room and all equipment you'd want. There is a very large supermarket one road behind the where you can get anything you'd need for your stay. This was a chic loft which was very centrally located (round the corner from Dam Square). Loft was well fitted with all essentials. Coffee, sugar and milk was provided for the excellent coffee machine in the loft. There was an excellent supermarket just round the corner. Also had a good quality wifi connection which was free of charge. Nice views of Singel canal and a great corner cafe below the apartment. The Owner was very helpful and lives in the building, which made check in and out very easy! The apartment was beautiful, comfortable and clean ~ right on the canal and walking distance to everything! The building has very steep stairs ~ so not for anyone with a challenge climbing the stairs! We loved it! We will definitely return. Great location, excellent apartment, nice owners! Only slight problem was that our apartment was on the 5th floor with no lift access, so it was quite the endurance challenge getting up there! But that's a minor thing, overall we'd highly recommend staying here. I loved the facilities in the apartment, it had everything that you could possibly need. It was very comfortable and quiet with shops and restaurants close by. Theviews over the canal were lovely and the staff most helpful. Very nice and cosy mini appartement on teh canal. geographical situation excellent close to dam square and all attractive sites. Excellent for a couple/romantic stay in A'dam. It was such a fabulous apartment that there weren't any negative comments I could make - this is more of a request for next year when I go back! - some tea towels and/or paper cloths would be great, as well as a proper frying pan and milk pan (for heating up the milk for those lattes), and finally a sheet of what's good in the neighbourhood for dinner, coffee, etc wouldn't go amiss. But honestly, I couldn't really fault it. The bed was not very comfortable. The stairs were steep,but we knew that from the other reviews and we did not mind. It's not really a negative for most, but be aware that to get to the apartment you need to climb 3 sets of very steep and narrow stairs. No microwave, although this was not an issue. The loft is not suitable for older couples or people with mobility issue due to the very steep stairway. Again this was not an issue as it just added to the appeal of the loft and its location. This is very common in Amsterdam apartments. No major negatives at all. Having to leave at the end of our four night stay!! The stairs were quirky but we knew this when booking and so it didn't come as a surprise. It is an old canal house so this is bound to be a feature. Bathroom - very basic and small. It is just an apartment with no reception. Located in 4th floor, you have to climb and going down all narrow, sharp stairs several times a day which can be mortal to older and very difficult for those with small kids or large baggages. There is no elevator. Hard to take the luggage withme upstairs cos there was no enough space but I think its comman in Amsterdam. Nothing. Stairs very aggressive. Stairs were a bit steep. Bedroom was small and difficult to navigate our to sides of bed. No screens on windows and Mosquitos were an issue. 71 steep steps in old Dutch house. kitchen applicances were difficult to operate for North Americans.City was surprising dirty with garbage and debris in tourist areas.
