The staff were quite simply outstanding in every aspect of hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed at the Riad Assouel for my fiancee's birthday and the staff left a bouquet of flowers in our room and made a birthday cake for her, which they served with our evening meal. The service was excellent and efficient but in a very calm and relaxed manner which blended perfectly with the peaceful ambience of the Riad. all reviews » The Family who run the Hotel are great and although they are French they speak perfect English along with their staff who are polite ,nothing is too much and they always keep it clean & tidy This Riad is so well situated at the top of the Medina ( the old walled city ) it is just above the hustle of the Souks and with easy walking distance for the Square which is full of life both day and early evening. They can pick you up from the Airport which is always a good idea in a foreign country. . The staff were amazing!! So helpful, they really looked after our every need from walking us to restaurants in the evening and collecting us so that we didn't get lost in the maze of alleyways, they also arranged a driver for us when we wanted to explore outside the marina (strongly recommended), they made our experience as stress free as possible and gave us so many helpful tips. The riad is beautiful, an oasis of calm which is very much needed after walking the streets of Marrakech. I cannot . Would recommend Riad Assouel unreservedly-a fantastic place to stay! A tranquil oasis of luxury rit in the heart of the bustling old town. Five star treatment, staff excellent especially the manager Mohammed, fabulous food, gorgeous rooms and beautiful setting. But once you step inside, it was an oasis. Staff were friendly and accommodating, ambience was great. Splash pool terrific for those hot days, it averaged 41c when we were there. You could even have a drink inside the Riad, byo. We had preordered a meal because of our late arrival which was very nice. We stayed a total of 4 nights. Would recommend this Riad if you wanted to stay in the old section of the . We felt really welcome in the Riad - staff were friendly and obliging. Coming back from a walk around the medina the Riad felt like a refuge, where we could relax and feel like home - always a good smell of aroma- oil everywhere. We had dinner on our first night there and got a table next to the inside-pool decorated with rose petals - so beautifuk! The food (lamb, couscous and vegetables) was excellent. Not a cheap Riad but definitely worth the price. The riad is really charming, quiet and very relaxing. A very peaceful place in the the otherwise crowed, hot and agitated city of Marrakech. The rooms are lovely with very nice bathrooms. The meals are also good to excellent although not extraordinarily original. The crew is very kind, efficient and can give very good advice on the town and how to move in the medina. A bit expensive on Morroco standard - but worth it. We enjoyed the Riad and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a good place to relax after a days sightseeing and the pool is a real bonus. Although some people think it is out of the way its not - it takes about 15 minutes to get to the main square if you don't stop to shop. Breakfast was lovely everyday. We greatly appreciated the help staff gave to accompany us to restaurants , taxis etc to avoid getting lost. We liked the welcome, the style (decor, furnishings, atmosphere, rooftop tented lounge area), the excellent service from all of the staff, the view from every angle within the building. Nothing was ever too much bother for Mohammed or his staff. All of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We were welcomed warmly and made to feel special throughout our visit. The atmosphere is relaxing and simply enchanting. If we return to Marrakech, we will stay there. We thought Riad Assouel was beautiful, welcoming and a perfect retreat from sightseeing. A beautiful house with very friendly, helpful staff, a pleasant and very comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the pool/terrace. Lovely roof terrace. Good food which coped with our vegetarian needs. I wouldn't stay here again. Greeting was good and the driver was excellent. Evening meal was very good. Common areas were very nice and attractive. Beds were ok. We could not fault this riad, it ticked every box!. Nothing! It was all fantastic!. Difficult to find your way around. Unfortunately the map we were given wasn't very detailed. Male Muslim attitude to my partner. Unfortunately the wifi didn't work properly. harassment by people on the way to the hotel. Advice: ask for the taxi when you are booking the hotel, and have a good city map!. Nothing. The room was really too small and we had little space to put suitcases or store clothing. Far better to take away the ornate chair and replace it with storage. Clients should be warned about the size. One silly proble was the need to have enough Durhams to pay the balance at the end. Please do warn clients a day or so before departure again. Lack of storage in our bedroom which, having met the owner, she were going to attend to (albeit, we had the smallest room). The contrast between the comfort and style of the riad and, having stepped outside, the poverty of the Medina. I saw nothing I did not like about this riad. Nothing. There was nothing to not like!. That we could not stay longer. Toilet could be better if bidet or water hose could be fitted. Otherwise all is perfect. The presence of small children splashing in the small pool in a patio that needs to be calm whole afternoon. was a little tired. The pool in the midst of the lounge/dining area was very uninviting and not clean looking. More importantly, it has a very central location in the Medina, but that proved a strong negative as the Medina (for us) proved almost impassible in safety and very unpleasant to walk through - constant unruly moped traffic being the main offender. Also constant danger of bag theft and solicitation by youths. We also found the rest of the city experience very over-rated in the guide books. We stayed in Moucharabieh room. Very pretty but very small. It was very hot 36 at night and the aircon did not work resulting in an uncomfortable night. The ambience was spoilt by arguments between staff and with a taxi driver who had a problem with a couple he had driven there.
