I am happy to join the ever growing band of glowing reviews for Riad Alwachma, given that my decision to stay there recently was based on its excellent reviews. This is definitely a place where you get value for money. Breakfast is included in the price and, although simple, the bread, pastries and yoghurts were fresh with copious amounts of hot coffee (always a must in the morning!) all reviews » We've stayed in Marrakech many times and had the chance to try many riads and other larger hotels in the "Hivernage" and "Palmeraie" areas. Our conclusion is that Riad Alwachma probably offers one of the best value for money in Marrakech and it has become our home whenever we visit the city. The riad offers the traditional Moroccan architecture and deco which visitors typically want to experience in Marrakech. The rooms are large enough, clean and comfortable. You can rest on the quiet terrasse. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and on arrival we had a talk about the city over some tea. We made our own way to the Riad from the airport approx 100 dirhams - ask for la maison arabe, famous hotel next door, and to be dropped off in the medina. The rooms were of a good size and beds were firm and comfortable. Bathroom was of a good size too, though the shower pressure could've been improved. We had 2 meals (3 courses and delicious!) in the evenings at the riad which we were able to. Great Riad - all the comments about it being a long way from the Medina / Souks are crap - go out he door go left - right - left and your there - 10 mins flat - if it takes longer you have serious fitness issues! The youngman who checked me in I believe his name was Briss - had mint tea and biscuits ready for me - room was cold when I arrived - AC was great - it was 114 F when I was there - suggest a trip to Atlas Mountains very cool up there if its hot - great respite from the heat and a good . Extremely nice staff! The riad is quiet, calm and relaxing. I particularly love the terrace and the breakfast (the only one with omelet we had in Morocco!). The riad is actually not so hard to find, after your taxi dropped you off in front of La Maison Arabe, there is a small street just left to it (when you face to La Maison Arabe and the mosquée at your back) where you can find a metal plate that says "Riad Alwachma". Just ignore anyone that talks to you on the street and asks you where you'r. Very satisfied with this hotel, I would recommend to anyone planning to visit Marrakech. If we ever return to Marrakech, we will definitely stay in this hotel (we stayed in 3 different hotels). The staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming, we had a problem with our return flight and the staff really did their best to help us cope with the situation. The breakfast was really good and the hotel itself is beautiful and well kept. Location is excellent, quiet and safe and within a short distan. The staff were extremely friendly and took care of us as if we were their own family. Especially Amin and Dris. We were two girls alone in a foreign country and somehow felt like the riad was out home away from home. The room (Chebba) was extremely clean and well kept. Just to mention that toiletries are provided. They have extra blankets and heaters for the winter time as well. The location is a definite bonus as taxis are easy to find and are cheap as the riad is well located. I thank everyo. An excellent place to enjoy traditional Moroccan hospitality. It's custom restored classic moorish house with nice interiors and professional staff. French couple are owners and they are so kind. And Driss, he is one of staffs, is very kind and helpful. I enjoyed my stay at Riad Alwachma so much that I'm going back to stay there again in a few weeks time - and have the Hammam I didn't have time for on my first visit. Everything in the Riad was just perfect. It's beautiful inside and really peaceful compared to the city's chaos, although it's very close the main square. The fountain's sound it's relaxing and you will love the breakfast always different and tasty. We had the possibility to have it on the terrace, which was really nice! Beautiful riad with a cosy small scale dining area with a fireplace for the chilly november evenings. We were given a warm welcome with tea and an explanation of the city and things to see and do. A nice rooftop terrace for having breakfast or enjoying the sun. Located in between the old square and the new part of town it is conveniently located to explore both parts of the city. Also, if you want to have dinner, need to book before the day. There was nothing at all to dislike. A pool would have been the finishing touch as temperatures were around 46 degrees but it would have been out of character with the riad. There was nothing I didn't like. Riad Alwachma doesn't have a pool but has a nice sun terrace - and there is a shower area. I didn't need a pool and chose Riad Alwachma because there is a lounge with a log fire for the cooler winter evenings . We had not lunch, but we found the dinner not worth for the money. In fact it was 12 euro to stand up not full from the table, and I saw the guy cook in the microwave...if you just walk 5 minutes you can have a better dinner for 4 euro and be completely satisfied. The hammam prices were too high compared to the other spa around the city and then we did not try it, but we were complete satisfied with others (cheaper). If anything... the entrance to the bathroom had a curtain instead of a door. Leaving to go home!. nothing. The internet reception was not very reliable. It is an intimate space, bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Worked well for me. Airport pick up was a bit expensive. nothing everything was perfect. Our room was on the ground floor and gave out onto the reception area, so it lacked privacy. This is the case for about half the rooms in the riad. Not ideal for a honeymoon, in other words! The food was also no better than average - don't bother with dinner. There is no door between the room and the bathroom . Poor wifi but only in the room (however the owner promised us that he will solve the problem), Sometimes the towels had a strange smell!. that this time we could only stay for three nights - but we'll be back!. - everything was great. -. - time flew away. Needs better/ stronger coffee but otherwise, the breakfast was great. Nothing.
